I have used about a 1/3 of a cord since 1st fire around middle of oct. Prob could have used less but liking being warm. Good news is my nat gas bill was 26 dollars.
A lot less than that. 1 fire, 4-5 splits atop some kindling...... Relying on gas logs to knock chill off every now and then..... Letting ?able wood go as long as possible. Got my wife all set up while I'm out of commish, but I keep her busy attending. She loves the wood stove heat, but logs are a click on/ click off easy button for her.
For sure had some really warm weather just about every day. Daytime not so bad but nighttime temps around 30. Just cant stand to hear gas furnace run.
I hear ya - furnace did not turn on at all last year and I don't intend for it to this year either. As for how much wood I've burned, it's too little to even measure. I've basically been burning chunks, uglies, and left over campfire wood that I just want to get out of the way. I haven't even touched the pine I had set aside for shoulder season! Loving the mild fall but I know I'll be tapping into the oak before I know it!
Yeah I have burning uglies, punky stuff somedry ash for good measure. What ever creates btu's. Saving the good stuff till the nasty weather sets in
wish my NG bill was only $26, however we have the dryer, range, hot water, furnace and a BBQ all plumbed into the NG
Somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 cord of mostly Pine. Normal use would have been about 2/3 cord by now, maybe a bit more.
I've burned slightly less than 1/3 of a cord so far. Somewhat less than the last couple years, although I'm not sure if that's due to warmer tempers, drier and better burning wood, or both.
I'm liking the mild weather, but I'm ready to go. Best wood supply ever for me even if that not impressive by multi year hoarders on here. I have used the furnace very little. I have a natural gas stove in my basement that I burn. Does not use much this time of year. December will be here quickly. It does feel way too warm to have December less than 2 weeks away.
I have only had a few fires so far, it's been very mild here in New England. Last year I started burning in September and didn't stop until May so I'm enjoying this stretch of nice weather, and I've got plenty of seasoned wood this year. I'm having a nice fire right now though, house is nice and warm! I just spent another 5 days in the hospital where it was cold noisy and annoying, being home with my wood stove and dogs right now is priceless!
I am, very well. Anyone who's been in the hospital for any amount of time knows you can't get any rest. Someone comes in the room every 30 minutes so it feels so good to be sitting here in front of the wood stove with my dogs watching some football! Thank you very much Eric, I appreciate that!
