2010 Husqy 359, 20", 3/8" .050 Dropped it last year on concrete floor & it cracked. epoxy'd it but it broke sometime this year Found the piece in the back of the PU today, didn't notice it missing & I fell, cut , limed & bucked 8 cord, not sure when it fell off Do I need to replace it ? Or Is it ok to run with part of the brake band exposed? Good parts source ?
Another question for the saw gurus I finally getting around to servicing the saw. Should I run it out of gas before long term storage or just empty the tank ?,
I'd replace the sidecover. That's just me...as I see a senerio where a stick or twig could jam in there . As for storage....my saws get used throughout the year.....but things I park for awhile get a lil Seafoam and a full tank of gas. Run for a few minutes to run the Seafoam through the system....then let her be . I personally have had more problems running machines dry .
The brake strap is fully retained but I'd probably replace it. Maybe cut it clean and keep for noodling?
Was searching, found one, Sears, $42.50, + $25.50 shipping Chainsaw Chain Brake | Part Number 537107801 | SAME DAY SHIP GUARANTEE from Sears PartsDirect Gonna go check the local Husqy store. Not paying $25 more for a $42 part 359 PN : 5371078-01
There's one on ebay auction for $18 total. Go snipe someone! The problem with running missing plastic is the clutch drum spinning and exposed = could be dangerous to fingers. Epoxy and duct tape may work. OR a mending plate with pan heads on clutch side - provided they won't touch clutch drum.
Mend plate, pop riveted out of the clutch AND chain path, epoxy or JB weld above band and clutch drum.... Gooder...
Epoxy, strap iron, pop rivets and some orange paint. Maybe someone on here has a used part for you cheap, the shipping is what's a kick in the butt, up where you are
I'd give this a try first. It also buys you time to find a better price. I'd bet there is a Hutzl like aftermarket for that saw much cheaper. Have to do something, that outboard clutch is humming along way too fast t
If it was cost effective, I'd get one of these and cut twiced in half, then apply to broken clutch cover... Now, I know it seems impractical, but it would be slick. X 10....
Lots of good ideas & Yankee engineering. My kinda guys here Like the fiberglass & bonds idea, couple rivets & a piece of metal to grab on to. Had a member here last year, sells wood, the shop he works out of has a bunch Of broken saws, (Nate I think) May drive over & see what they have. Husky dealers might be cheaper too Found one at Jack small engine, $52 + shipping Don't need it for a while, so I have some time, May - June gonna cut some at moose camp Agree , it should be fixed (Dreaming) A new MS362 would work too. But then it still needs fixed Will do something before Spring
