This past spring I sold off virtually all of my project saws & parts that were cluttering the shop. All I kept was my personal saws and some undesirable stuff nobody local wanted. I always stay busy with yard work in spring/summer and on top of that I had a lot of house projects and was getting very busy at work. I knew I was strong enough and decided to take a break from saws; no flipping, no collection additions, no "couldn't pass it up" deals. No saws. No saw work. I stopped perusing eBay, CL, and the forum classifieds. I felt good about my decision. I felt . . . free. All spring, summer, and early fall I got calls from folks who wanted saws repaired or were looking for saws they wanted me to rustle up. I turned them all away. I didn't buy anything. I was cured. Then, on Saturday, November 7th I got a text from a friend (i.e. enabler). He knows I have a soft spot for 066 Red Lights. He tells me there's one for sale about 90 minutes away. After some conversations with the seller I drove to get it the following Monday after work. I knew it was a risky venture, but I figured I would be okay. I bought two more saws this weekend...
You're entering dark waters there my friend. A definite relapse, not looking good, I think you should unload some to restore order to the force. CAD free 1.5 years and counting!
On the "other side" where the grass was supposed to be greener. Turns out where the grass is green the air doesn't smell at all like 2-cycle exhaust?
You might have figured out just what it takes . . . not being able to lift anything. I had shoulder surgery about a year ago and figured that was all it was going to take. Ended up buying more saws than normal since I had a lot of extra 'down' time . . . and it only takes one good arm to pick them up and/or get them out of the boxes!
Tell me there was at least some diesel exhaust ..... Nothin better then a little diesel exhaust in the morning to start the day off right... (And anything with that DEF stuff doesn't count . )
Thats some funny stuff right there lolol. I go through a phase every year, where i dont do anything saw/cad related from May till Sept..... Must be i get to preoccupied with my other hobbies. Once Oct roles around, i start going back on the forums, checking the classifieds, going on ebay etc. Once Jan comes around, i have usually bought 2 saws(used). Then i have to make sure i keep a path plowed to the log pile just so i can try these saws out, to see if i like these saws. By time April roles around, im usually selling 2 of my saws lolol and never to think about chainsaws again till Oct. Then when Oct comes sround, you start saying to urself, why did I sell those 2 saws???? Ahhhh chainsaw life!!!!
I can stop anytime I want. This is all I have left, plus five more at home, so I'm doing good, right?
Come on now come clean, you were dangling your feet in the water before that. You PM'd me about the 066 I had up for sale.
Yes, you're right . . . guilty. I wanted your 066, but rustling up the funds was going slowly. When I finally had the cash on Sunday (11/8) I got online and saw your post that the saw was sold. I'd been asking the Red Light seller questions about his saw and when I saw your post I contacted him to let him know I'd take it and could pick it up on Monday. It feels good to get the truth out about my addiction! Speaking of telling the truth - since I'm being honest now - I technically bought a chainsaw on Saturday, October 31st. Didn't really seem like an issue at the time as I was just picking it up for someone else, but I suppose walking into a dealer surrounded by saws and walking out with one might have been the straw that broke the camel's back...
