Did it sound like music? :D
    I'd say it counts.

...nothing that comes from my lips sounds like music. I feel sorry for the people in the pew in front of us at church. They are probably counting their blessings that I'm not there this morning. :)

It was really hard to try and pick just one of each, especially for Neil!

Watching Neil perform you can see why the younger generations started referring to him as the "Godfather of Grunge".

Looking at what I posted last night on CSNY, I realized that I didn't have a "live" video of all four of them in action at their prime, with Crosby not looking like a zombie. Since I've been living in the Buckeye State since "77", I knew the song I wanted. However, I could not find an early live version of it I liked. I did find this instead. Its not live, but pictures are worth thousands of words. I live 12 miles from Kent State and did graduate work there in Biology. My 20 year old daughter goes there now. This is for our younger members here so that they will understand some of our past and be better prepared for what the future of this nation may hold.

About 2 weeks ago my Onkyo TX-NR809 chit the bed... no audio output from the speakers and weird "initializing" messages on the console. This unit has worked flawlessly for me in my hometheater surround sound system since 2011. I got this unit from Newegg at a bargain $699 in 2011. Now they are $1K and I'm obviously out of warranty.

Here's what happened next. You could worse than buying Onkyo.

My Onkyo TX-NR809 went intermittent and fianlly completely failed over the week-end. Sunday I decided to dig in a bit and see if a firmware reset or some other type of magic dust might clear things up. No luck.

So I figured after reading the Troubleshooting section in the manual that I'd call Onkyo product support. Doubting they'ld be answering the phone on Sunday I dialed anyway. Surprise, surprise they answered the phone, and a Tim asked me for my name and product info. Tim spoke perfect English.

As I decribed the problem, I skipped over the fact that I had bought the unit is 2011. Not under warranty anymore. But, Tim immediately identified the problem as being consistent with a product recall. Pointed to me to a page and input the serial number of the unit. They are sending me a box with all packing material. Postage paid I send it back and they fix it with a redesign and send it back. FREE of charge.

Not bad, finally someone gets good customer service.

So I got the packaging that Onkyo sent me on Friday Nov 6th. I packed up the unit and got it back to a Fedex shipping location on the following Monday Nov, 9th. (this is a BIG HEAVY Audio Video Receiver) and it was shipped ground freight to Illinois. It arrived either late Nov 10th or early on the 11th.

They fixed it and sent it back to me Novermber 12th! I should have it by Monday, they say, but they have been beating their promises.

Just remarkable customer service, between Fedex Tracking Sysytem and Onkyo's customer service status system I tracked it every step of the way.

It will be back in my hands today. FINALLY!

I got it, got it installed and that is a solid 90 minutes with all of the wiring in that back panel, 5.1 etc.. So then I do the whole Audessey Room tuning thing and get it all dialed it. It's working great while watching a Blu-ray and a also Roku programming.

So the next morning I do my normal thing, coffee and some mellow jazzon Pandora. Well, Pandora uses the network, and I hadn't set up the network the day before. Well, I couldn't get it to see the network. 90 minutes later, Onkyo support admits they fixed most of the problem, but not all of the problem, and they give me a new RA number to send it back again, and then they e-mailed me a new shipping label as I still had the box and packing material they sent it back to me in.

So...tomorrow morning I'm driving down to the FedEx shipping store, and doing the whole drill all over again. It'll take anothe 10 to 12 days. Oh well, the good news is they owned up to the issue, and it's not costing me a dime, other than the gas to drive it down to FedEx.

Type of thing I used to let get to me, these days I just don't sweat the small stuff.

Some friends of mine playing at Slates in Hallowell Maine. Robby Coffin Combo. The whole set is good... check out Robby's daughter Maggie starting at 103:37... it's a very laid back audience and everyone knows everyone. Lots of good musicians and singers in that town... but Maggie has really got the voice.

I've been neglecting my rig lately. Fell out of the habit of spinning a few disks every night.
