I haven't packed the stove full in a while so I took some pictures tonight. I could've fit another small split but didn't feel like going back out to get one. The big split barely fit through the door. About 9 minutes in. Flash. No Flash. About 17 minutes in, bypass closed and the t-stat on 2.
Heheh, that monster split in the bottom center is cool. Ya might as well just throw a whole tree in your stove. Just guessing - is that mostly red oak in there?
One thing I miss about my old BK is being able to load those big uglies. Now I save them for the fire pit.
12* right now, not sure what the low ended up being. A couple of the smaller splits are oak, a couple hickory chunks the rest is ash including the ugly one. Not sure how many years I'd have to leave an oak chunk the size of the ugly one to dry out. I'm 38 and I don't know if I have that many years left. That's the biggest one I've burned in the stove to this point. I was surprised when I came across it in the stack. It must've made me angry when I was trying to split it so I just tossed it on the pile.
12 hours in, family/stove room just lost a degree from 80 to 79. The thermometer is mounted near a doorway leading down the hall which is pretty close to the stove. The room in reality is probably more like 75 in the middle part of the room. OAT is now 14 with a fair amount of sunshine, it's hard to believe it's so cold it looks nice. I just pulled the remaining chunks to the front of the stove. Here are a couple pictures with flash/no flash. Notice both pictures are taken through the glass, this is not commonly seen with a Blaze King stove.
Made it 14 1/2 hours, it may have had another hour of usable heat left it in. The ST was 330 with a pretty decent coal bed still.(OAT 17, family room thermometer 78) We're getting ready to head out to the movies or I would've let it go a bit longer. Tossed a partial load of uglies in that will get me to tonight's load.
Can you run a BK on a 7" double wall? After reading all these posts I realize I need one. I hate being a slave to my stove every 5 hours......
