Only shot 1 today...................although it was darn near a perfect scenario....................had two land in the decoy spread of a group of about 12......................waited for the rest to circle around and re-commit......................they did, but flared at the last second; so I popped up out of the blind and shot one that had landed that was also trying to make a fast exit!!! Picture of "Dee" from my blind....................
Awesome dude! Great pic! Our duck hunt next weekend! I am pumped, but after seeing your pic, I can hardly wait!
Post back where that one came from when you find out. I'm assuming you got that one locally (maybe not), but if so I was wondering where it came from. I keep my "trophies" on my call lanyard, there are 4 of them there including a Canada, a Mallard, a Brant Goose (shot on the Niagara River), and a Green Wing Teal.
I've looked up flyway data before and it showed that most of those birds do not fly south over Lake Erie. Most migrate west around the Toledo side of things heading down the Mississippi Flyway. A smaller percentage go east around Erie via the Niagara River/Western NY region, eventually to the Chesapeake region. A small percentage of those "Toledo' birds come east to us on their way to the Atlantic areas. Looks like you got one of those! I think I want to move up to Ashtabula County before I die. The sky and fields are full of them as you drive up Rt. 11. I think the county was #1 in both deer and turkeys too last year. Took this at Rt. 11 & 6, as soon as I pulled the car to the side of the road it was all heads up.
