That's a good start. She'll be out of it for a while. Now all of you need to get some rest, eat well, then visit her tomorrow. Looking forward to you updates.

    savemoney, will do!

HDRock One more thing ill add to our dogs are like our kids. Ive been blessed with 2 boys for a reason. If I had a girl, the whole dating thing with a teenage boy would be an interesting thing for me to endure. So, yea, I consider Maple my daughter, and if anything tries to mount her, I can kick its azz without worrying about the cops! :smoke:

Ok, im getting goofy, time for bed!:D

(and btw, that last part was a joke... i would never actually kick a dogs butt):picard:

Yep, Blondie just stole the last slice of leftover quiche WWW made the other day. I put it on the counter intending to heat and eat it in a bit. Just glad she did not get the saran wrap too! It happens...... See Well Seasoned ?

I just read the last few pages from last night. Well Seasoned So glad to hear Maple's surgery went well.

Yeah, puppies will get into anything. Retirievers especially will put everything in their mouths.

Saucy has been looking all over for her this morning. Sniffing her bed, looking throughout the house, glaring into the woods. Hopefully we'll get a call here soon to see how the overnight went.

Our Labs were active at night for the first few years of their lives. Now they sleep, but when they didn't, we usually ended up regretting letting them roam the house. The solution was kenneling. We put their kennels beside our bed, but thick cushions inside. I did have one who would eat the cushions, but the others didn't. Plus, having them beside my bed stopped any night time whimpering and kept them out of mischief. They got so they went right into their kennels at night as soon as one of us went to bed. We use those wire kennels. If your room is too cool, cover half of the kennel with a blanket.

As a follow up to one of my hounds getting caught in a trap recently. I found this info from Idaho Fish and Game to be straightforward and presented impartially. Some potentially life saving information anyone who enjoys the backcountry with their dogs ought to have. Also look up your states trapping laws, and know the trapping season dates. I've added a pair of heavy duty cable cutters to my pack.

savemoney this is certainly good advice, all dogs need their "den" and we use a bed for the dogs on the floor, our Saucy doesnt like it at night and burrows under the covers on the bed. Maple did sleep on our bed when she was smaller, but on her own just started sleeping in her bed on the floor. To keep both dogs out of trouble overnight, we put a gate up at the end of the hallway. If they do get up, the bathrom door stays closed, and they
Sometimes sleep in my sons room.

UPDATE-Mape did welll overnight. She is still on IV, but was let outside and peed. The doc said it would be fine to visit this morning, so we'll be off shortly! We'll go back later as well so she knows we'll always be back. They will begin feeding her around noon by mouth hoping for a bowel movement. They have been checking the seal of the intestines per bloodcount?

No permanent damage in either case, we're moving on...a little wiser, hope the same for Maple.:)

You ever stop to think how much less complicated your life would be without dogs?...and yet you wouldn't have it any other way!

Well, that is food for thought! my life can be very complicated. Yes, they get in trouble. Make messes, destroy things I wish they wouldn't, don't always listen to me. Yet they are a calming comfort for me. When I get deep in my doldrums, there is the cold nose flipping up my elbow, "hay, pay attention to me! Hello, Hello." There isn't any price you can put on that, no bottle to sell it in.

Thank you for the update. Her color is good. She is well nourished so she will have the energy she needs to recover. The hard part is going to be keeping her quiet. She will think she is better than she is. In two weeks, this will seem like the distant past. Maple is so fortunate to have you folks for her family.
