I think stovewannabe at least deserves an answer to his question. Someone should PM him about what happened as his question is a reasonable one. When I read "stepping away" I interpreted that as meaning that he was leaving this site.

The rather than posting about it, why did you not just do what you want someone else to do?

Backwoods answered the question very well, IMO.

In regards to him leaving? He has been on here as of this morning.

Stovewannabe, if you would like a better explanation, then PM Scotty, myself, or another Mod.

But just know that there is a reason for everything. It's not that we wanted to make another Sandbox to play in. (although this is a pretty kick A## sandbox! )

I had already talked to Scotty. I don't like it when someone asks for advice about a "New stove to me in a New House to me" that has passed safety and chimney inspection and wants to just heat their house for a winter or 2 until funds come by to upgrade and then people trashing the stove and telling them to buy something they can't afford right now. After you buy a house, your basically broke from all the fees and closing costs.
One of the reasons the people may have bought the house is because of the stove and are happy it passed inspection and can use it right away. I'm in that boat right looking for a bigger houses and a safe wood stove already in place that I can use right now for a year or 2 is a bonus. I know about dry wood, epa vs non-epa argument but I will not have the money and just what to safely heat my house and family. I think some people start get a little snotty and their attitudes start to turn some people away. We had a Bullard Eagle when I was a teenager and did all of the work except using the chainsaw and loved it then and miss it know, but really, it's just a wood stove.

I posted about it because it's not my battle and any knowledge I have (with the exception of my personal experience related to it) of the situation is hearsay. It would be inappropriate for me to pass my limited knowledge (rumor) in a PM without appropriate scrutiny from a moderator or the owner of this site. Since we don't talk about the situation openly, I thought it would be more appropriate for someone else (like a mod) to send a PM. Posting my opinion did open me to scrutiny such as that which I received from you which is how we all keep each other in check. Let me know if I have an inappropriate understanding of forum etiquette.

I don't think you were out of line. No need to think you were.

After reading this thread this morning (updates) and seeing Dennis' response, and also checking wanna be ' s profile (and seeing he was logged on and browsing), I left it at that.

Anyone is always welcome to PM Scotty or any Mod and get the short version of why we are here. Which in all honesty, I think is a great place (I may be slightly biased):emb:.

Happy New Years everyone! Looking forward to seeing what this year brings to us  and because we are in a wood related forum.. Here is a pic of what I am currently doing (took a break and figured I'd check some emails). ;)
