Wasnt it you that posted about the big roadkill last year in Ohio?

Less then 1.5mile from my place 24pt hit this year. :( I dont know where they got 24pts but thats the story on it. Maybe not measurable points, who knows.

I'd been proud to have plowed into this :bug: To think were still hunting the same 15pt.

Hope this dude survives the Orange Army this year. He's got potential.

No worries. You will make it happen. I totally missed the shot on my first doe this year. The next two went into the freezer.

Trouble is, this is the 3rd year in a row I've tried the old "thread the needle" shot through an area of small saplings as they cross broadside to me 40 - 60 yds away! The first 2 years with my 44 mag revolver ended up with 2 dead trees! This last shot with a 10 point crossbow was right on. Just like the view in the second photo, I found the "hole in the needle" ahead of where she was slowly walking and let her walk through the saplings into my sights. Missed .......... she just spooked a few more yards away and stopped, looked around a bit, then slowly kept browsing through the woods. Never did find my bolt (nor blood or hair) in the leaves, need to go back with my metal detector.

Enough, I'm getting the serious toys out for the gun season this year!

He's almost certainly a 2.5 y.o.. They get big really fast around here. My 130+" 8pt was only 3.5 and my buddy's 115" 8 pt was only 2.5 y.o. I think the 2.5 y.o. was actually heavier than my 3.5 y.o. Good gene and good nutrition around here.

6.5 yrs. of hunting on my little property and I've only shot one buck. You would think I would at least look happy! In reality, I still hadn't come back to earth. This dude was a stud for our neck of the woods. Very grateful that he gave me a shot and that my shot resulted in a quick and ethical kill.

I've never seen the real life vs. mounted picts side-by-side. I think he looks much older and wiser and tougher in the "field" picture than in the mount. What do you think?

I got my big guy on camera again last week....still nocturnal :(

Firearm season opens Saturday morning....hopefully somebody on the neighboring property he lives on will kick him up and onto the ground I hunt. Not very likely only having 2 pics since 10-23, but still hopeful considering the next biggest I have on cam doesn't even hit 110"

Every stealth o cam I had died an early death. I have a wild game now that I converted to run on 6v. It will last months and is ir and takes decent pics.

I dont get to my place as much (3 hours away) and still have not hunted this year esp since we now have a two year old. My cousin helps a lot with cams as he lives closer. But my hunting has been way back burnered the last three years.

To me cams are exciting to see what you have but not that help full. It just let's me know what bucks I have that I will never see. Ha! I mean if one is always on one side of property vs the other I can consolidate huts there but then all of a sudden that buck mag appear on the other side of property. Or during the rut a monster comes by once to never be seen again . Or one takes up there in the rut two days. Or I actually see a buck or kill one that there is no record of???

I mean I guess if I had 19 cameras point in all over I could pinpoint movement better and it help but I think reading sign in the woods is just as help full during the hunt.

I'm a meat hunter too. I pop a couple does as soon as possible, and since I live in a state that only allows 1 harvested buck, I wait for a large one or don't shoot bucks at all. Haven't killed horns since 07 or 08 iirc. Good luck filling the freezer!

Here's a pretty good young buck. Would love to see this one stick around and make it until next year!

Down here a rack like that is on a monster 5-6.5 year old. He would be on my hit list for a bullet in the chest!
