I'm more interested in seeing the Tin Man ... need a bit of help finishing up my in-process pile before winter really sets in.

I just stapled down my lumber wrap over several of my wood piles. Will be a good test to see if it holds up.

The cold and snow are bad enouph but that kind of wind is just down right miserable.

Last night WWNY was saying 35mph gust for us. Just east of the lake they were saying 35, 45, and maybe 55mph gust. Looked maybe staying South of here. Hopefully they won't go that far through and get that high for you.

50 here with rain and wind. Could not resist starting a fire to see how the stove performs in high wind conditions. A chilly 66 in the house at the moment ... but not for long. Burning cherry, silver maple and 3 gren bricks (Departments - FIREWOOD BRICKS 20/PK)

What are the measurements on those bricks?
I may have to make a run to Gaylord for a couple packs of those to try out.
    I got a 4pk at TSC that are 3x4x9.5" for $3.49.

The 20 pack weighs 38 pounds and each brick is 6x3.75x2.5; they are cheaper per pound than the TSC product. They normally sell for $4.99 at FFH, but if buying by the ton, they are $224. I'm hoping to get a few packs during the black Friday sales. Pretty sure I got them 25% off last year. I like to use three when doing a cold start; I put down 3 splits then a split in front and back and the 3 blocks in the middle then kindling on top. While I like them, I don't love them. I've tried burning them alone and find that they burn best when combined with splits. Also, I make sure I have splits under them as this insure they burn completely.

    Thanks for that info.
I've found it best to use with splits too.
The TSC bricks are 20.8 lbs/4 pack.

Raining to beat the band for the last day now. All the streams/rivers are swollen. Sure glad it isn't the white stuff, we'd be digging for sure.
The temps will drop tonight and along with that the rain will changeover to snow. Lots of it! Supposed to get a foot of the heavy stuff.

Heat attack snow is on the way!

Just mowed the yard again, 50's here but might creep down a little tonight with these high winds. Not sure when I'll get the first fire. My son (3yrs old) asked the other day if we could make a fire... it was 62 degrees out!
