    On our 4th Subaru wagon now. Been very good to us over many years. Daughter is on her 2nd. Lot of Mainers drive em who live in the hilly areas.

    I've had chats with about every subbie owner I know and all seem pleased. Biggest complaint was rust(But that was the pre 2007 models?) I usually drive em till the wheels fall off, So I'd rather not have em rust out first. But that's pretty tough with the stuff CT. has been putting on the roads.

    I gonna start a thread in the everything else section before I buy. Just like to hear the pro's and cons before I jump in with both and no life rope. ;)

    Thanks ivanhoe - in NH with all the presidential bru-ha-ha going on, these types of calls are common these days:
    --
    "I am from Microsoft, your computer is infected with a virus. I need to remove it. (Or, I will clean your computer and install a lifetime version of our anti-virus product for $$$.) Please provide your Name, Address, Social Security #, and Bank account # / Credit Card #."

    "I am from NH Law Enforcement (usually Sheriff's Office), we have an outstanding bench warrant issued for your arrest, -that you can clear today-, by phone, by making a one-time payment of $$$."

    "Your entry in the ( insert random organization here ) sweepstakes was selected as the Winner! The taxes to claim your prize amount to $$,$$$. These taxes need to be pre-paid in order to collect YOUR prize. How would you like to pay that today?"

    All from automated call-center / "burner" numbers, many with 'valid appearing' (spoofed) Caller ID identification.

    With the upcoming holiday season approaching, it's always a good idea to let friends, family, and loved ones know not to provide -any- personal identifiable or financial information over the phone / that any legitimate contact should come through the mail - tell them to HANG UP the phone.

    Just bought my first Subaru, a 2016 Legacy a couple months ago....so far, I like it.....no issues other than me trying to get used to all the electronic gadgets on the thing! I had a Camry, which was bulletproof, never marooned me, even in bad weather, BUT there were times it was a bit scary, which was my deciding factor in going to the Subaru. My girlfriend has a Legacy, is a horrible driver, and drives a fair distance in snow, rain, etc all the time.......have to see how it goes!

    My 2 cents, is you can't go wrong with the Subaru. Buying used or new? New, seldom a problem, buying it used. Like any other used car, it is a risk you take. Ck it out to make sure you are getting a clean deal. Remember, you will be still driving this when you son takes to the road.

    Mine was used (97 bought in 99)-back then the dealer let me take it for 2 days to decide if I wanted to buy. I dont think they do that anymore :confused:
    No real rust issues and that thing saw a lot of salt in its 302K miles. Even had the original exhaust on it :)

    The five door Impreza is real nice IMHO. Also gets 37 mpg on the highway. Might be my next car.

    And still available with a stick. Might not be much longer. The Legacy only has the 6 spd cvt for 2016. I'd like my son to learn stick.

    Most likely the Impresa 4dr. About $19K new. Not much savings on used, About $16.5K for a 2 yr old with under 3oK.....
