That isn't a way to tell anymore. Breeders of purebreds don't de dewclaw anymore. Not sporting dogs at least. My English lab pup has his and breeders keep dew claws so the dogs can get out of ice holes. My lab pup is 20 weeks, no puppy teeth anymore, and sack is just forming. Still has puppy breath too. Looks like you have a new buddy there. I'd keep him, no hawk will mess with him, and he'll hold his own. I see boxer / pit mix, no springer IMHO.
Must be a new thing. I've never seen where they don't do it unless specified. I know a few breeders out here and there done at a day or two old.
My purebred lab has his. Op, good on you for the vet trip! If you decide to keep it, know that boxers are typically high energy and need alot of exercise to burn it off.
2 out of last 3 dogs of ours have had dew claws. Looks like a boxer mutt to me, and I'm a sucker for a boxer. No bird will carry him away, but they aren't gonna protect much either. I'd agree with shy of 4 months.
Amen to that !! It irritates the hell out of me that people seem to think pets are "disposable" if they do not conform to what they thought it was going to be. It's a life long commitment to a living thing-if you are not able to do that, dont get one. I swear I like animals more than most people more and more these days. OK, getting off of the soap box now...... Kudos to you for taking good care of the little guy
I'd say pit bull mix. Especially since you're in Southern Ohio, where pit bulls are the white trash dog of choice. My wife and I went to the Brown County animal shelter recently, and 90% of the dogs in there were pits. While we were there, 2 people stopped in the bring back pit bulls that they decided they didn't want. Personally, I wouldn't want a dog that has any amount of pit bull in it around, especially since I have kids. We ended up getting a puppy from the Brown County shelter, and as she grew she started looking like she might have some pit in her so I spent the $80 to have a doggy dna test done. I was pretty impressed after getting the results, I can now totally see what she's been bred with (lab, beagle, German Shepard). It might be a good option if you're considering keeping him.
I'd say cur as well. Many are born without tails, my cur Billy Bob doesn't have a tail either. The brindle with white shoes - handsome dog
you going to keep him??, I might interested and in Lancaster Ohio looks like my Hailey who passed. She was boxer St Bernard I really want a female but he is a good looking pup
