Husqvarna Autotune software

Does anyone have a copy of the Husqvarana autotune software they would like to share? I have a hunch about the hardware I would like to test out.

Also, if anyone has a bad carb from an 550 or 562 that they would like to donate I will gladly pay shipping. Thanks!!

After reading through the manual for the autotune software I see the interface to the saw is 3 wires. While it is possible they developed their own protocol to talk between the computer and saw I suspect they use something off the shelf like serial. A basic usb to serial interface is a couple of bucks.

As for the carb, I want to see if I can get to the chip to see if it is something off the shelf or they rolled their own. Custom silicon is seriously expensive so I doubt it. Getting to the chip will require destroying the carb so a dead one (or 10) would be handy. Really any of the electronics from an autotune saw would be handy.

Ok, so lets say it is SPI... you are going to probe the output real time on a scope or logic analyzer? Reverse engineer the register map?

I would have to think the mcu is off the shelf, but the register map is the key.

The firmware has to be protected, so you have to be a pretty decent hacker.

I am intrigued... also a double E by trade so if you need someone as a sounding board, or potentially bad advice , hit me up.

 

^ Yeah...that. Might try using a binary multiplexer to decrypt the analog frequency of the flux capacitor too.

 

I'm certainly no EE, I'm just a hobbyist. My first goal is to see if I can replace the interface with something that doesn't cost $200. My assumption is the husqvarna interface is something like a simple usb to spi interface with some adapter cables but we'll see. I do have a scope and logic analyzer.

Having more fun with the system would be a bonus and I also assume it is protected but you never know. It would be interesting to see a copy of the firmware for one of the modules as it comes form husqvarna before it is written to the modules.

Ya know, the presence of that 'black box' has me convinced that's not a 'normal' USB cable in any way.

I think the real key is circumventing the multi-decodering - then dialing in the diodino auto-converterplex. After than, setting the trielectrodumpleganger is about as easy as taking candy from a babe! Cheers!

 

I think it works using a principle similar to the turboencabulator.

What I'd really like to see someone do on one of these A/T saws is retro fit a standard style carb on one to see how one would run, personally I'm not a fan of these saws, I bought a 550xp three years ago, never really even used it, I didn't like the way they start, when they finally start, sold it three weeks ago for a loss....I won't buy another, guess I'm still just old school, I'd grab my 346 in a heartbeat over a 550xp.....
