It's that time of year again, spent the better part of Saturday with my oldest daughter helping getting them up. I have about 3 acres that need to be cleared of leaves and use a couple of backpack blowers and do it 3 or 4 times during the fall just to keep up with it. I have an insane amount of leaves. Not complaining, it was a great day to be outside and part of the deal having a place in the woods. Here's a shot when I was half done.... Here's a couple that I just cleaned up... All was covered in deep leaves before I started (just did it 2 weeks ago). Oaks are coming down pretty good now.
I couldn't fathom using a blower for all that. I use the blower attachment for my stihl kombi unit and blow everything away from the fence in the backyard then suck them up with the mower and dump em. Front is the same but no fence. I try to maintain it because waiting too long makes it very tedious. You should get one of the Billy goat or little wonder blowers that you push. Insane amount of power.
Your property looks great. I used to battle the leaves for a month every fall, but now I just wait for them all to fall and mulch them.
I hear you man, I have tons of leaves too. The Husky 150bt does it again. Front and side yards I use the blower, In the backyard, I chop them up into rows with the tractor then, I have a shoot I hook on that I made from duct work, I put a hood deal on my little dump trailer then blow them all in there and dump them in the woods
My main concern are the leaves that have the potential to blow onto the driveway or anywhere else where they could be tracked into the house. Beyond that, I don't bother with them and parts of the yard have leaves all winter long. Those darn oaks will still be dropping leaves in February though.
Yeah you're thick with em' alright. Didn't even know there was a driveway there. Keep thinking I should get one of those push blowers. Small blowers are over matched sometimes, especially when stuff gets wet.
Backyard is worse. I've seen those push blowers on YouTube looks like they're pretty powerful. My 150 Bt does a good job though, it will blow wet leaves, sticks, leaves and grass stuck to the driveway, it will roll a 5 inch round across the grass
Wouldn't that be the coolest deal! Or maybe pellets? Wouldn't surprise me that we hear of someone else marketing a green leaf wood log or pellets. Just remember you heard it first on FHC.... I have used and looked at many options, not to say mine is the best.. Push blowers work best on flatter large grounds, hills, ditches soft grounds and obsticals around buildings etc.. are challenged. The biggest backpacks are pretty stout. Each situation is different for sure. Nice work HD, I remember your post from last fall! That Husky makes short work of all those leaves doesn't it!? Remember growing up, my dad would make me rake the leaves and either bag them or if I was lucky we had a burn pile. No one had blowers....
Yeah that backpack blower really kicks butt, just got it last Year should have bought one of those a while back. I read somewhere about a guy, he had access to a lot of small boxes, he would fill them up with leaves and he made a heavy steel tamper type thing, he smashed the leaves down in the boxes close them up and burned them in the stove.
I don't bother with them anymore. The rider chops them up. The wind carries some off. I rake out the gardens, that is all. However, I don't have any one place in the lawn that is more than 25 ft wide. The mulcher on the mower is the best I can do at this stage.
Great pics, @Fanatical1 Didn't see if you mentioned where you deposit them leaves... To the woods? When I was growing up, we'd rake leaves onto a tarp and drag to the back yard grass and leaf spot. They didn't pick up yard "stuff" when I was a kid....
