I kinda left you guys out over here but would like to give ya a brief run down on this saw. I'm really liking it considering it's price point and how nice it runs. But as many of you now when I do a build thread I usually buy 2 saws and battle them out to try and find a recipe I like. Well here's the cliff note version so you have an idea. Lol.

This is saw #2 port work. Getting ready to tear back into saw 1. Anyway. I took .020 off the base and rest the squish to .018. And starting with the intake. I widened and raised it tremendously. The pic is showing how I formed it to work around the piston squirts. It's at 75° 20151107_113249.jpg 20151107_113221.jpg 20151107_152031.jpg

Next are the trans. Nothing fancy here other than they have been raised a lot. Saw #2 sits a 118°. And the lower part of the trans I raised .020 I cut off the base plus an additional. 020. 20151107_113244.jpg

Next is the exhaust. I raised and widened it a lot too. It's at 102 now for a blowdown of 16°. This is one of the most pain in the azz exhaust I have did. I included a pic of the stock exhaust so you could see what I started with. 20151107_113257.jpg 20151107_113307.jpg 20151022_155349.jpg

Like I said this is the cliff note version. Feel free to fire away with any questions and I'll try and answer them. If there's interest in this saw I'd also be more than happy to show you the whole procedure. The build up to this point is on AS as a build thread. Lol.

Ok remember these saws a re brand new so they will run even better once broke in. This vid is a stock saw vs my first conservative attempt at porting this saw. Or this is saw #1.

And here is saw #2. This is the one I showed ya the port work on. It's definatly stronger than saw .#1. And it has a timing advance of 5 degrees. Not sure it was helpful but it's done. Lol. More testing is needed.

Now I will tear saw 1 back down and look for any little gains I can find. Little tweaks! :dex:

I know right. Wasn't for sure if they were interested in this saw. So if they show interest than I can easily make this a full build thread. Lol.

60cc is a very popular size saw over here as most of these guys run 1 or 2 saws. If what you're building is a 60cc size/weight saw with 70cc or better power, all at a price point similar to a stock Stihl 362 or Husq 562, then I'd say there should be a whole helluva lot of interest.

Awesome. I think it will handle a 24" bar rather well. While my recipe is geared more towards the 20" bar. When complete it would not be hard to adjust that to allow for a bit more torque for a bigger bar. We will see. :)

And your correct on price. This one ported will run you around the cost of a 362cm stock. :)

Are my eyes correct in seeing you keep the base gasket in place even with the lower squish?

Yes sir. I cut the base and the squish. I took .020 off the base and .015 outta the squish band to yield .018 squish. Factory squish is .023. This yields around 200 comp on a new saw so it'll rise to just a little more once broken in.

I really like the 6100. Of course that is no secret. I think as a firewood saw this is the best 60cc option out.
this is one of those saw you would be happy with even after 20 years of service.
I have a hard time believing that these saws can even stay in stock.
Also if you want I will be happy to test your finished mod side by side with my stock one. Lol

If you can get past the 6100's short comings....plastic clutch cover and slightly heavier/larger than the 562/2260/362 it is a great saw. much cheaper than the competition, better air filter, almost 1/3 more fuel capacity, very smooth A/V, and most importantly leaves a couple hundred bucks in you pocket to put towards your next saw purchase because lets face it...even if we had 100 saws we would all still be wanting another one
