I'll get pics, I've got a bunch waiting in the wings for this year. I was going to do a nice 1st thread with tons of them, but this happened. I was going to cut lots of honey locust and Osage with before and after pics but I had some things come up, so I'll be three weeks til I get to it. I'll post pics of what I have so far once I'm off moblie

Yea so we make sure not to take your good saws to them!! But like I said they made good on it and did the right thing and admitted an error on their end.

OK, so what dealer should we all be choosing to get that customer service orientation?

Yeah, it was bought March of 15. I Had cut about 13-15 cord with it. I took it in to get the switch fixed and they didn't put the filter back on. I bought from them because of their reputation on customer service, I'd buy another saw from them tomorrow. They were awesome and owned up. I couldn't ask for more.

Wow... It stinks that that happened. But they made it right, that's what counts, without asking... That's impressive... Good on them. Just next time you take it in... Just give a good twice over... Also welcome to FHC... A whole lotta of information here.

Good on your dealer. Everyone fricks up once in a while. Some man up and make it right, others weasel and deny.

So do you keep the old saw too, or give it to the dealer? Just curious, glad they made it right! :)

May be able to fix it cheap. But if it ate too much dirt that cylinder will be scratched pretty good and a short block in stihl parts will cost almost as much or the cost or cyl and piston might be pricey too

My guess is that the saw's engine will be fine. The dealer will probably check it over and sell it as a demo or used saw, use it as a loaner or ? I've taken in saws with no air filter and the piston/cylinder looked fine.
Note: not recommending you run a saw without a filter, just that I doubt it ruined the engine.

May have run lean without the air restriction as well?

But the owner got the ssw not the shop.

I doubt the owner was allowed to keep both saws. Clarification would be good on that regard. The lack of filter shouldn't have caused the saw to run lean. As more air was allowed to go through the carb, it would have picked up more fuel too so unless the saw was already at a lean tune, that shouldn't be an issue.

Welcome to FHC! Glad to see your dealer came through! That kind of service is what you should expect from a good dealer! :(

What part of Ohio are you from?

I did NOT get to keep the old saw. I wish I had. I'm sorry if my posts made it sound like I did. Also the saw never ran lean, until there was no filter. I mistakenly thought it was do to the change on weather.
