From the article: " Turn your thermostats to 68 degrees. This habit will help you conserve fuel during long-lasting cold spells."
The last time the thermostat was actually turned to 68 degrees here, was like, 12 years ago.

The thermostat -read- 71 degrees @ 1 am this morning when I shutdown the 'lady Francesca' stove for the evening, those La Crete pellets are some kind of hot.

Article did have some good tips - time to stock up on food, pellets, and Beer. :pete: Thanks Smokey!

Hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Fortunately I have the gear to keep fairly comfortable although my hands do get a bit on the chilly side. Heated gloves are too bulky for me to operate the controls well, so stay with mid-weight gloves and turn the heated grips on to setting 6.

Yeah, that was pretty much my reaction. Wall thermostat is set at 55* - just in case, or at 64 if I'll be gone for several days. Pellet stove room temp is set at 65, although the rooms actually stay 70-72. I know if I moved the probe further from the floor it would be more accurate indicator, but it is working for me as is.

I try to help in the stocking up department, we try to stay stocked up especially because of winter and getting into and out of the lot. I don't want to be rushed when it comes time to clear snow and crud. That reminds me I really should finish up repairing that broken snowblower so I have a backup. Currently I'm working on the hard cider supply and when I have a clear shot at keeping a fermenter of mead going on the kitchen table for a few weeks I'll start on that. I'm getting slow in my retirement. I should get materials together to do a couple or three batches of ale while waiting for the mead to reach bottling state. Currently the supply of ale and other libations is dwindling. We are all set in the pickles, relishes, jam, and canned fish department (those sardines and smoked kippers I got for my birthday padded out that supply). Have a pile of winter squash. Have flour on the list as we are under 50 pounds currently.

I noticed that some of the holiday season brews are hitting the shelves yesterday when I was at the supermarket. I'll breakdown and get a few different ones to have around.

Cleaned the big stove today since the ahs pan was almost full. Rode out to get groceries. Now trying to decide whether to mow the leaves that came down with the big winds the last couple of days or just leave them since they aren't in the path that the s**w blower will be taking. I could just curl up on the couch with a good book (Kindle) and football . . .
