nope, we are still ghey. no necked cartridges. Straight walled pistol caliber carbines .357 and larger. NO 9mm carbines, No 300blk AR's because it is still necked, no 357 sig because: its a necked cartride. basically, they want low power rounds as they think ohio is too flat. I understand the distance danger, but they have never hunted in southern ohio. They being the state game commission. who is really going to use a 45acp carbine to shoot a deer at 100 yards? maybe if you aimed at the moon....yet they consider 45-70 a legal, and weaker pistol round.... lol I passed up a sweet ruger 44 carbine this time last year because we can't rifle hunt.. they passed it in march this year... any 44 cal, 357, 45-70 carbine length or greater is now twice the retail of what it was a year ago..
Dear Father is working at magazine mfgr. (Pains me that he has to work at age 72 but I cannot change that) Anywho I pulled the magazine off his black and brown pistol today looking for some kind of id for my father (Christmas present for hubby). I could not find ANY marks on the magazine, so pulled a bullet out to see if that would give him more info....but wonderful father, still protective after all the years lol, became worried. Though I know how to do rudimentry things with it, (nothing in the chamber you all!) I just put it back in the locked cabinet with the magazine out....that relieved my loving father So, that one is 9mm high power.
My bro had a bullpup .50 bmg. It let me and my son shoot it. Plus some older tripod mounted thing. Dont recall its model right now.
Some of bro's designed stuff in shotgun news this month. ((Dec. 20th issue of Shotgun News has a nice article on the Tavor done by Peter G. Kokalis. You might even see a few products from Homeland Guns!))
I want a 30 30 Winchester pre 64, and a sharps rifle. Two guns that I do not need, but would love to add them to my collection!
Wow, Ohio and indiana have some weird hunting cartridge rules. Nothing like that here in Wisconsin. Pretty much can use any thing bigger than a .22 for deer, no rimfires, and the barrel needs to be 5" or more for a pistol for deer. We used to have a 1000 fps at barrel rule for deer pistols, but even that part went away. I think a few guys with 9mm, .40 and such pistols were using +p ammo, and technically that would get over that 1000 fps barrier, but wardens couldn't tell what to allow our not in field. Messy situation cleaned up with a revision of the law.
Bro teasing me again with his new guns to sell. 23" folded 16" barrel and threaded 1/2 x 28 New Kel-Tec SU-22 26d mag
So, WWW bought a rifle for our daughter today Too heavy for her to hold but apparently can hold it on a quad mount Me thinks he just wanted to buy a gun and this one was cheap.....
Thanks!! Not worried, she already goes target shooting with him and he is a safety nut, ( Minnesota Marty helped me buy ear protection for her doing that )
It's all good with that. Just stock up on ammo, buy as much as you can afford to stockpile. 5K- 20K is a start. Now, that little .17 has no recoil, it's a rimfire. The rifle - on the other hand- probably has a 13- 14" length of pull. If it's truly for your daughter, WWW needs to shorten the stock. Her gun can grow , as she does. Easy to add to LOP. Her comfort at this stage is key. I think me, and a few others here can lend some good advice on this topic.
