I'm pretty used to my firewood supply being placed in my back yard. All I need and can burn comes from tree guys so a score of 25 is the normal. Some of the guys deliver cut to length so there are bonus points on Dave's scale. One guy even chips the crotchety matter, more bonus points. But on the other hand I've yet to get a load of cut rounds that are consistent at 16", and shorts really suck when stacking out the piles so there is a minus factor that must be considered on pre-cut rounds. But then again I can't say getting wood delivered is a 'score' either, its just business as usual. It'd be a score when somebody split and stacked it.

Yup, I think that classifies!! [IMG]

I agree though, it's hard to put a number on them. Hopefully we don't have to average in the equipment! The maple that blew down across my main trail last week was a pretty sweet score I think. It had been hanging up in another tree ever since I bought the property, and now it's no longer a hazard. Bonus points for that I guess. It's not at the top of the BTU scale, but it will be ready next year and it just might come in handy. Got a couple nice saw logs for lumber out of it too.

I think it scores pretty well on Grizz's scale too, considering it fell about 600' from where I stacked it, the next day. :smoke: All of it hauled and split by hand, so equipment expenses were fairly low. :)

    Here's my latest:

Neighbor is a log buyer for a mill. Tells me to drop a trailer off at the mill about 10 miles away and they will fill it with end cuts and I can pick it up the next day....pretty much whenever I want. No charge. All hardwood.

    Agree.
I've been in the firewood business for 26+ years. Have all the "right" equipment to handle it and can select species if I want. For me to rate a score at A+ it wood have to be split , dry and stacked in my shed free by someone else. LOL:dex:

Is a "score" different than a "scrounge"??

Somewhat of a subjective category here............................What about how much and how well you "Dance About" after your score or scrounge???!!!!

Only a posted video could be used to generate a "bonus" value as far as a "Dance About" goes....
This:dancer:don't count. And neither does , unless suitably imitated on video, and is of the "actual" member, too!
