Happened here last week, nothing stuck to the roads, but covered the driveway and lawn overnight... Safe travels WW.

Yes, I know your allegience to the blue oval.....well, at least Ford put a circle around the problem.
Don't think too many race teams were calling them "slowvette" when they kicked everyones a** at LeMans. :dancer:

Looking forward to finally having some competition this year......the Chevy guys were starting to fall asleep for a lack of it.

Hoping for no snow in the near future. My car blew its tranny so I'm down to just the bike for transportation. chilly coming in to work this morning at 30* - that's helmet weather to keep the wind off the face :shiver:.

Went to local car dealer yesterday and bought a 2004 Explorer. they had just gotten it in on trade (1 owner and 130k miles). Have to wait for them to get it into the shop for a go-over, but they will be fixing the steering rack and anything else it needs for inspection (yay me, I detected it during my test drive - actually didn't know if it was a bearing or what because it was very light). They already knew that was bad as the previous owner always had all their work done there and that is what prompted them to just go ahead and trade it in for a new one. Hoping to pick it up Saturday.

It won't fit in the garage, but it will tow a trailer and already has the hitch hook ups. Now just need a trailer (oh, and some winning powerball ##'s) and I can haul my own damm pellets and can look at getting the snowmobile mobile again!

The only car to leave us needing a tow was a ford. You can keep them.

Wish me luck, I have an appointment this afternoon to have my knee injected with Synvisc. It is some sort of lubrication. Works best in mild and moderate osteoarthritis. I have severe. So it it hit or miss for me. Looks like it will be a while before I know if it works : "Everyone responds differently, but in a medical study, many patients experienced pain relief starting one month after their injection"

I'd be taking that vehicle for another test drive, and would want to see the shop repair order, w/ the vehicle VIN # clearly stated on the order verifying that repair, before accepting delivery. And I'd be walking out with a copy of said repair order.. I wouldn't accept delivery without it, and would walk away if they give you -any- static about showing the repair to you.

I would also have them specify a limited warranty in the contract post-sale as well, or the extended warranty contract, if offered and reasonable $$$.

Just looking out is all - seeing as the PO thought the issue serious enough to stop driving the vehicle / trade it in.

(Depending on the issue, drive-train, steering, and/or suspension parts on the Explorer of that vintage can be $$$ for parts & labor, usually being the labor - shop time is expensive.)

Good luck savemoney, hope it goes well. ( Catchy name for the med., sounds like something you'd find in motor oil. ;) )

It is a bit more than a lubrication job. Have they scheduled a second shot. Hope the person doing the injection has done many of them. Good luck.

Yep, plan on doing that - but good point about the VIN#, hadn't thought about that.

The PO has had that vehicle for 11 years. Decided to buy another vehicle that will last the rest of their lives (they are in their mid/late 70's), instead of putting in the $1,200 for the repair. Don't say as I blame them. Heck, the surprising thing is it is one owner as so many people seem to think it is mandatory to trade in a vehicle as soon as it is paid off.

As for availability of parts - they can't be any less available than a tranny for a 2010 Patriot Sport, 5-speed manual with 4 wheel drive. Those things just aren't available (one of my mechanic's suppliers says he has been looking for the exact same tranny for 2 months and they are still on back order). A new one costs $4-5k so I figured I might as well use that money to get another vehicle and fix the car when a re-man tranny can be found.

They put a steroid in with the lubrication. Follow up steroid in 3 months, and lubrication in 6 months. I got up on the table, closed my eyes until the procedure was over. Kinda like having a bee sting, then a heavy pressure feeling. Then it is all over. The PA did the injection. Now we wait for results if any.

    Yep,

I promised myself to not get into these debates as its very similar to politics. 2 of the 3 have relied on the tax payers dollar to make it through money mistakes and corporate overspending. So I went with the one that seemed to be making it on their own. Not sure I can continue, That might change because of my economy/pocket book. Pretty much all of the big 3 get out priced with the current competition. As much as I want to support the American auto maker, Its getting really really tough.

More than one way to support America. For example, Hyundai has a big plant in Alabama.

You too? I came home to a similar aftermath scene but it was too dark for pics. Maybe in the morning. Only 2 guys doing my roof so it will take maybe 4 days.
