So far.........................I've started just 6 fires in my stove since Oct. 1!!!!! And none of them were "sustained" fires................just to take the "chill" from the house. Here it is Nov. 3; and the forecast is for another 2.5 days of 70*F+............followed by a bunch of 50+*F+...................... What's a pyro to do...............
I think everyone is going thru this warm spell. I guess more wood for next year and more time for us to get ahead...enjoy it while you can
I was telling Backwoods Savage today that I could smell wild leeks when I was cutting in the woods so I brushed back some leaves on the ground, they were starting to sprout. We were cold enough in October that we've burned two face cord or .62 of a cord of Hemlock & Pine.
Wow zap, that's a lot for Oct...........well, it is for here. Now you get to have leek soup in the fall.
Omg I LOVE ramps aka wild leeks. I brought some home from WV this Spring and transplanted them to a woodsy part of my yard where the trillium grows. They must like it, because the flowered and set seed! Hopefully in a few years I will have a nice patch. I am curing my itch to burn by BBQing, smoking a brisket right now with some cherry wood. Mmmmm....
28° Fire been burning 24/7 for quite a while Winter setting in for 5 months now. Normal here now, we did have a warm spell the 1st part of Oct. Don't wish Winter on to fast Just say'n
Yeah, but I need a GOOD, HARD FROST so that I can make a Fall batch of horseradish before Thanksgiving!!!
