First fill of the season. Got around a cord slid down into the basement yesterday.

BTU's of a different kind. Dug my horse radish patch yesterday. Only got a 5 gallon bucket of roots this year.

Saved the small roots and tops to propagate and sell at the nursery next year. Believe it or not, some folks will actually pay 4 bucks a plant for the stuff!

All set up and ready to grind this morning. Just need to find my gas mask.

Nice. How do you preserve all that horseradish to keep it from turning bad? Love the stuff.

Got 2 gallons of pure triple X nasal punishment this year.

I just put it in 4 to 8 ounce containers and freeze. Keeps for a year or more with no problem.

I'm asking myself right now why I didn't add more vinegar and suger this year cuz this years batch it freaking lethal!

Why do you need gloves and a mask?

If you have a cut.... Or go scratching a sensitive skin areas... It'll have a burn sensation.

My uncle got some Hot Pickles and it was based on horseradish.... Oh it was Good.... Love me some horseradish.... Country fried steaks.....:D

Gloves, not really. The fumes from grinding are pretty intense. It has to do with the oils contained in the plants root. The bare roots are not a problem but once you start breaking up the fibers you are releasing the oils and that's the heat. It mainly affects the eyes and nose. It is not a hot burn like hot peppers.

Looks great. Does it retain its BTUs over time? I know when we buy the stuff in a jar it doesn't stay hot for long.
