I would think you can just crack a line to bleed air out?

I would highly doubt the pump is bad. Hydro pumps on most stuff dont go out unless there Is lots of hours

FWIW - I just let me Dad borrow my splitter (same splitter) to split about 5 cord - full oil on way out and 1/2 when it came back about 3 weeks later. I've noticed this engine does burn oil and I keep a close eye - worth checking very often. Cheers!

The predator at 4 years old or so does not burn any oil ;-)

It's possible. But not likely that it crapped out at the exact moment your engine died.

Have we investigated the engine yet?

You need to unbolt the pump from the engine and see how hard the engine turns over. The pump may be misaligned or jambed against the crankshaft.

My splitter came with a predator. I am amazed at how well it runs.

Sorry your having bad luck if we was closer I'd loan you my splitter till you got your up and going again

It's way excessive but it's cheap too but I change my splitter oil at 5 hrs of use. I use the weight the manufacturer calls for with full synthetic auto zone oil

I buy a few qts every time I get $20 reward on my autozone card. My engine holds 20 oz so it's not breaking the bank. I still check the oil at each use but changing often on a engine that has no filter in my mind is not a bad idea and it always has fresh oil in it

I've got into a routine of cleaning and checking saws and other equip after each use and a quick double check before each use. I tell you it really makes you feel better when your working with others who don't and they are doing the proverbial crank and cuss then $&@" it throw down dance lol and you fire your stuff right up

I believe it also has a weighted flywheel to compensate for the wimpiness when it gets a good load.

When mine rattled apart and I had to buy a new blower housing and some other parts, I called SpeeCo about other engine options.

Most engines have a heavier flywheel if they are not intended for mower use. Sometimes a mower engine will not run or run like scat without a blade attached because they have a very lightweight flywheel.
