finally getting caught up with the end of last Winter's storm damage cutting and piling that I fell behind on. Oak really needs to be cut, split and stacked . When this is done, hopefully today, I can get started on cutting again.
I agree with you and I should be out working on my grapple load of oak too. The holiday week got the best of me, I haven't gotten out as much as I would have liked
I had to do a double take look at those pics and then it hit me -- NO SNOW. all we see here is white everything. Even the stacks look buried in white. You have lotsa mature stately looking trees there and a bunch of good firewood stacks going -- good job!
I agree with Gark. Looks strange not seeing snow. Earlier today I was cutting a tree that has been down for a while and when I rolled it with the cant hook, wow! Bare ground where the log was. Seemed good to see the bare ground too.
Nice work billb3! Looks like you had some fun! Always a good form of exercise. I love splitting and stacking.
big rounds to the right with age patina are red oak from a tree that blew down in one of last Winter's bad wind storms. fresh cut to the left was a pin oak ( pretty sure, looked like it before it got cut ) cut down green a few weeks ago.
Done. Back to cutting maple and pine and hauling it out of the woods with the tractor unless we get into cutting dead oak out of town again.
