From some friends of ours and she's really happy. I had suggested this stove for her a while back, but she never had the money.
This one's a freebie, but needs a little TLC. The baffle has a big old hole right below the collar, which I think our friends made. He burns less than dry wood and the stove didn't burn how he wanted so he tried that, then ended up getting a new stove which is bigger but also a tube stove.:headbang:
It's also pretty rusty, so it'll need to be cleaned and repainted. I think there may be a couple broken bricks too.
We'll make it all pretty and functional, and of course I'll take pics. It was after dark when we got back from picking it up, and raining, so it got tarped.
I was pleasantly surprised when he pulled the tarp off at their place. This should be fun.

Cool. Will she get it in good shape in time for this year. I guess the real expense will be the chimney. Looking forward to following this potential project.

Sounds pretty good especially for a freebie, :thumbs:new baffle board, a couple of bricks and a paint job should be good to go

She may try to move some money around to get the needed flue parts, but that may be tough. She's been using propane, and it's expensive....as we all know. There's also a fireplace, but that just wastes wood and doesn't provide much heat.
Cleaning, painting and all that is the easy part.....I hope. I have extra firebrick that should work. New baffle is $60.
I'll do some research for her, as she has no clue.

Is this replacing an existing stove?

When she bought the house, there was an old 1000 series Earth stove in there. Poorly installed, and in very bad shape. I told her to lose it.

I've been on CL almost daily looking for stoves and now flue materials. I'll keep doing that.
Found some stuff, but folks seem to think they have pipe made of unobtanium or something. I'll be going to a few sites to get prices too.

    Slammer?
I honestly don't know if or how that would work.
I've tried suggesting an insert, but she doesn't like that idea.

That room got torn down, rebuilt, and a breezeway between the house and garage built. The old pipe was about a bazillion years old, rusty as heck, and 8".
We got rid of all that too. The ceiling in the old room was less than 8', and the roof was very close to being flat, and the Class A was only about 1.5' above that.
EVERYTHING was wrong with it. Oh yeah, the stove was about 2' from the front wall, but the hole in the ceiling was closer. "They" installed 2 elbows with a short piece of pipe between that had a downward slope. :headbang:
I have NO idea how that thing even drafted.
I may have some pics somewhere.

It took us a while to get it done, but it came out very nice. One decision she made was to buy a couple slider/doorwalls, and have us take them out of their frames, then build the wall to fit those doors (which now became big windows). No one else can understand why she would want that, but she seems happy with it.

We'll get it unloaded maybe today, and into her garage for the cleanup.
It's getting chilly around here, and rainy, so I'm not sure how well the paint will adhere. Maybe try on the back of the stove first.
