I met moparmyway today, and he very graciously let me borrow his Timberline sharpener to try before I buy one... Thanks again Mopar! Can't wait to give it a whirl.

Of course he also fixed my Hedgetrimmer in 30 seconds, AMAZING!!

Excellent- I am anxious to hear how it works out for you.

I wonder if the same 'sharpener' can be used to set the depth gauges? I realize it would leave a radius in the top but that could be filed out with a flat file fairly easily once the final depth was set and all the rakers were cut to the right depth. ??

I really like my Timberline . I usually wind up hand filing when I'm sharpening out in the field. The Timberline is used to "true up" my field sharpening during the off days.
I usually carry an extra chain for each saw just in case I run into a rock or a piece of wire. The Timberline is good for putting a true edge on some of my more damaged chain.

It was my pleasure meeting you Sir !! :D
I would think that I had some help fixxing that trimmer ........... someone didnt know how to choke it ! :picard:

Please let us know what you think of the Timberline as you use it

................... and I think the drive gear needs to be pulled away from the main gear to stop that whining noise. There should be just a little backlash between the 2 gears, thats what sounded tight to me.

I don't think the Timberline can be used for the rakers, it's got no depth gauge on it... But the rakers are really easy, that's really not an issue. Get a $2 raker filing guide and a flat file, you just lay the guide on the chain and file the raker sticking up thru it. Even I can do it! ;)

Pleasure meeting you as well. Thanks again. It just looks soo easy, I can't imagine not liking this thing. And one of the best things is, it can be used out in the field (no power required). I'm surprised it's not more popular. I guess the $20 cutters could get pricey depending on how long they last which seems to have contradicting opinions. Maybe FHC can get a power buy of the carbide cutters going? ;)
