Starting out on the new site with a wood ID question

    Finally made it over here from the temp. site. Pretty nice digs guys!

    Anyway, helped my mother clean up a bunch of down branches from a recent storm and came across this at the local tree dump. No leaves to be found on it.

    I was thinking ash but the larger stuff I've run in to didn't have this deep of bark even at this diameter (24" or so)

    Looked like ash to me too, but a longer shot of the bark would be great. Look for the X patern.

    AND SEE, I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT GOES TO A TREE DUMP!

    I can say this, whoever cut that had a dull azz chainsaw. It looks more gnawed on than cut.
