Sayonara Japan.... (a delayed post).

Well, my time in Japan came to an end about 3 weeks ago.
Sold the 4x4 Diesel Delica for $1900 which allowed me to break even after 6 months of ownership (had to do brakes and water pump). This would have been the ultimate scrounging machine.

Said good-bye to a few good friends. Don't have any idea what species they were. They were probably glad that I didn't have my saw with me.


Jumped on one of these.

And got home in time to take the kids to see this guy..


Good to be home for the holidays.. Keep those who are deployed in your thoughts and prayers during the holidays..

Now, back to two very important things:

1. Update my signature.
2. Get back to scrounging THIS YEAR's wood!!!.. Man I'm way behind!!!

Glad to have you all in Japan with me while I was gone and glad to get the invite from Scotty to come over here. Happy Holidays all.

Thanks everyone... And just in case anyone is wondering, the recovery process from my case of CWS (chainsaw withdrawal syndrome) is going well so far.. Being able to run the saw and swing the Fiskars on an almost daily basis over the holidays has helped immensely. Fortunately my wife and kids are supportive and understand my condition..

 

Is that tall tree really a tree? We have some cell towers around here disguised like trees.

Yeah.. It sure is... There were several of them over there that are 40-60 feet tall. Amazing thing is that they survive typhoon winds of over 150mph.. It seems that the Japanese are not concerned about ugly towers like we are in the US.

 

Huh, just looks out of place, just like the fakes do around here.

Pyroholic, I agree that those trees look out of place.. If I ever end up there, I'll take some better pics and make a more concerted effort to determine the species.

Smokinpiney, here's another pic of the back side just for you. I'm amazed that the backup mirror (to see the bumper) never made it to the US.. Great for parallel parking. We jumped right to the backup camera with video on the cockpit..
