Spent a beautiful, overcast day here with temps in the 60's cutting mostly locust and cherry, with a little ash and white oak thrown in for good measure. I had blocked a road purposefully in April just to throw trespassers a curve...didnt work, they just ride around it. Anywho-the day was perfect, the rain held off and I thanked our creator for allowing me to revel in such wonder...
First load down-this pic shows what the Polar trailer hauls-2 trips makes a truckload... Now on to the sweet smelling cherry
Looks like a great day!! Gorgeous woods and awesome setup so what's not to like! I wish the rain would have held off on us but that wasn't the case lol
2nd load down...I didnt want to leave! I did put up a trail cam at a new set I hung on Tues, saw a couple deer, no bucks...our rut is right around the corner so I will not cut any more til after our muzzleloader season in mid December-with this split I should just about be at 11 cord-I'll burn on average 4-5 so I'm confident by spring the 3 yr plan is complete-did I mention today was blissful?
Wow awesome, woods of choice! No other to thank! Really nice work, bud- and great pics You gearing up for some serious hunts, or some cool weather golf? Edit: you beat me to the explanation!
Thanks bud-no strictly whitetails for the next month and a half-if its get unseasonably warm, I'll play a round or two but beginning next week, I'm as crazy about pursuing trophy bucks as hoarding wood...I have more ash, cherry, shag bark and locust down to look forward to after season-this is one among others I made sure was mostly off the ground so it continues seasoning
No Glen-NKY I'm strictly a one man op-the log dogs are on board for whatever...my friend holding logs with the excavator a couple weeks ago is the exception---I'm usually a solo rider, and I like it that way---it's my therapy
I knew that---Savvy and Sophie are down for whatever---they love when I bring a deer home---its like, Hey Dad---any of that for me????
The pics of your forest are absolutely beautiful! Its so different from what I have here. The abundance of colour is nice to see. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic photos, beautiful woods, There is nothing better. I don't need to tell you that. Nice rigs too.
I see you've got the Mathews strapped to the quad. They say that deer come running to the sound of a chainsaw!
Thats funny F&B, was just joking with a friend this eve cruising around the farm looking for deer that I've been on the prop so much just cutting that the deer may not fear me and I may just use the 018 as a grunt call Did have one doe come in above me yesterday while cutting just standing there watching me
I've had a coyote come running right in close at the repetitive screeching sound my winch was making working on a log!
Ashwatcher : Beautiful grain on some of those rounds I'd love to make a diagonal cut on some of those to see how nice they look.
Steve, I would guess you're speaking of the cherry? It is such beautiful wood, I have wainscoting, panel wrapped my bar and made my mantle from cherry from my farm---I love how it ages
Great variety of BTUs Sweet dump trailer ! Nice pics & great Fall colors Bow on the front rack, Hunting & cutting, see any game?
Nothing but this bogydave Our deer arent laying down much sign yet, I expect it to explode this week and the rut to peak by Nov 12-15 Got some nice ones on cam though and of course the nighttime sightings
