Nice log pile. A suggestion, or at least what I do: The rounds you have aren't real large and can be moved quite easily, so. Take the rounds to the stacks and set up the splitter. Split and stack directly into the stack so you only have to handle once. Rather than get round on splitter, split, load trailer, unload trailer and stack.
Give it a shot, seems like there is way less handling that way. Handle 1 round twice vs handling say 6-8 splits twice. The only downside is having to clean up splitter trash by the stacks, but that isn't a big deal either.
You have a nice, efficient operation there and some nice stacks too. I would love to be able to cut and split at the same place. As it is, I have to handle each log 3 times before splitting.
Enjoyed looking at all of your pics this morning WVhunter ... nice yard full of wood you've got there. And, you sure are getting at it...
I see the stubby leg of Stella in that pic!!!!!! You can tell he don't cut wood much with those Khaki colored pants he chose to wear. I'd ruin them the first time I filled up my tanks. God Bless bro.
Well I finally made it back down to my log pile today for a little work. Have not been cutting much the last couple of weeks due to hunting season. I just took the 4 wheeler, little trailer and the 460. I cut three trailer loads got them split and stacked as well. I figure about another half cord and next years wood is done, then on to '17-'18 wood.
I beg every year for the 27 acres of woods behind my 2 acre lot. Thank god the farmer is really nice and allows me to "treat it like its mine"... maybe one day ...... Awesome tho 120 acre adult play ground in my eyes!
Well I also dig your pics and set-up, really nice...And so nice to see that you know the proper way to use that splitter--- Thx for making a fellow Mountaineer proud!
Looking great man!! Keep after it and before you know you will have a few years worth of wood on the stacks! Love the tractor and all the firewood making goodies!
