Pretty happy today.

Three years ago my deceased dads only saw, MS 250 crapped the bed on me at the most inoppurtune time. A 100+ foot pine had crashed into my front lawn from a storm. Saw was running pretty good then started bogging and finally couldn't get it to run at all. I went straight out and bought my Husky 550XP to get the job done. Dads Stihl has been in the basement ever since.
Well today I had to go get more premix fuel from a small engine place. The only dealer in the area that actually fixes things not just sells them if you know what I mean. Figured it's time to have them get Dads saw running. Probably cost more than it's worth but sentiment and all.
Drained the three year old Kerosene out of the tank. Decided WTH, let's try it. Half a tank of fuel and a bunch of pumping and it finally fired up. Running strong, no hiccups or bogging.

I think Dads been watching and decided I've come far enough that I can now use his saw.
I wonder what he would think of a muffler mod? I'll be searching to see what's possible. Anyhow it's good to have Dads saw running again.

Thought maybe it was to keep things tip-top while in storage or sumthin'.

 

I thought the kerosene thing was a way to keep the carb from drying out and moisture out or something g?? Was thinking thats dangerous in case you forget and start it.

 

I have a hard enough time keeping everything running with real gas.

Having two saws is a good thing. Now you have options, don't have to stop if one gets dull or something else saw related tries to slow you down.

 

Yea two is a must I think. Recoil breaks on one or you throw a chain and your literally 3 cuts from done and dont feel like putting g it back on that second just swap saws. Pinch a bar and your out in the woods alone and no other bars or chains or back up saw your dont till you can fix that. A back up let's u cut your way out.

 

I have two saws, I actually don't cut anymore. I'm not steady on my feet. My son does the cutting as needed. Keep them both in good working order.

 

Not like, that your not steady on your feet or you dont cut but that he does the work and you maintain.

 

No, dad was having problems pulling over his old 250 so he got this one. It has the EZ start. Not much of a fan of it myself. At least not in this size of a saw.

 

Funny you should post your video. I saw that last night while searching around for 250 muffler mods. Not many sane videos of 250,s on you tube last night.
Seen a bunch of people cutting dirt with em tho. WTH?

Seems there can be a problem tuning them though. Did you modify or replace your carb or none of the above?

Thinking this morning maybe leaving it full stock. My XP 550 is modded and maybe it would be nice to have a hush hush if I go scrounging.
