Eric VW, First, you are a good man too! I have seen your kindness. We all start our journey from different places, no one failure is not fixable over time. both my parents were Sunday school teachers, Lions, boy/girl scout leaders and foster parents and then adopted many no one else wanted. I had 2 great role models and I was over 30 before I pulled my head out from my own orifice.

I think you said your kid (s) were older and with mom.. Just make sure they know, your there if they need you! you keep making you better stronger and maybe you can teach your grandchildren how to burn wood :handshake:

    Hey a little update..

    Government agencies are still :hair::headbang:

    Churches, community-based agencies are

Grunts move junk (former military) members are a double kudos, Embarrassed at how long it took to think of them.

Personal points. As this thread needs less tissues and more high 5!

10 year old is having a sleepover this weekend at our house:D.. This sweet little girl needs a break from her reality. My daughter and her are becoming fast friends.. Both are in a homework club together and since we have been there multiple times they have started playing together and all looks . I guess you were right my little girl has made me really proud this week. I wonder if they will work on sign language?

A few months back I helped a neighbor who wanted to plant pumpkins for community kids.. So I donated my tractor tools and time for a couple of days to turn 2 acre mess into garden. Well party is this weekend and while we planted more carving pumpkins we got 50. We were blessed with more eating pumpkins hundreds.. Local food shelf and some churches asked if they could have them to cook freeze for bread and pies for thanksgiving and Christmas.... YES.. Anyone seeing some good karma here. maybe a bigger plan than I had... So sincere thanks for for kind words and prayers.

I also realized something... Just how hard it is when you can't hear to watch your 3 year old.. This mother is really trying. When I raised my nephews for 2 years I knew when it was too quiet to find them quickly..

So thank you. trying to get most of this done by Saturday because my family and I are going to need a rest day..

    Wow!!!

This is a great thread indeed! I'm proud of you and your daughter CbVt and very proud of that lady and her daughter. That has to be a really tough situation and they are blessed to have someone like you who really cares and can get things done. Now if the stupid government would learn how to get things done like this.....but it probably won't happen.

You're leading by example, brother! That's the best teacher! It's easy to be a "sayer". Quite another to be a "doer".

    OK another positive update

Since governmental people that get salaries to help cant seem to accomplish anything:hair::headbang:

Went to Facebook Thursday night. Saturday delivered installed newer donated washer.. (she was in tears) 2 bed frames with box springs and Mattresses) Clothes food and 2 cars of cleaning supplies and food!. I want to note most of these people read a summary like on page 1 and with 4 members of club got that all picked up delivered and 4 truck loads of garbage removed. Even the dump guy charged us half going rate. rest he donated!!

Never under estimate the caring and compassion of the American People!:D:thumbs:

Garbage was an issue as did not want someone to complaint and get family services involved and it really could have been considered a health hazard!

Went to pumpkin party and got Pumpkins for the kids after all kids leave rest will go to good cause.

The daughter and my daughter are having a sleepover. Mom is getting house organized Washer was put in at 9 am and was still running when we left.

She woman getting a helping hand really had done a lot of work since Wednesday!! I think she just got a little overwhelmed and depressed and when saw that she could get something accomplished she did.. So off to help kids carve pumpkins..

The only bad news is my splitter is silent, no saws running and I still need to winterize pool. That sounds like tomorrow jobs

OK another positive update.. I went to the Woodstock open house for 3 hours but had to leave early to go to a lions club convention and We got the 10 year old a scholarship to a special camp for the deaf and their families. I thought this was real important so she doesn't feel so alone in the world.. This is great news..

Moreover the family has taken the assistance and with some real hard work on their part really turned a corner:D:handshake: So things are going on a positive note so thanks for the prayers and we'll wishes.

So a local group is sponsoring family for Christmas.. Wife and I are chatting with 10 year old what do you want for Christmas her answer I just want to talk to my mom with words... I am a big tough guy but had to walk away to wipe some tears.. Have to be careful because emotionally this is demanding and draining. But rewarding also..

Somehow we have fallen in love with that family and believe many others have too.

Would it be possible somehow to give them a special Christmas card with all the forum members names on it? Can someone help out on this idea?

That's a great idea and would hopefully fill their hearts with joy to know they have so many people thinking about them.

This is a great thread and it reaffirms my hope in humanity. It seems far too often that most people only seem to care about themselves.

What's even better is that stories like this are pretty common on FHC.

    Great people, great site!

Another update.. today we... got a Christmas tree, new beds for kids picked up and delivered and installed with help from ... quite frankly i thrown out dog beds in condition and i have 15 year old mattress in my house! with a truck borrowed from friend... so they are on there... it feels good to ignore black Fridays craziness and do something meaningful... Everybody feels happy and loved!

However, went to parent teacher conferences Wednesday.. my little girl great.. little girl same grade of family .. is failing really.. need to re-prioritize ... what's point of presents if she's not given tools to succeed in future.. so that's new goal... Not sure where to find resources to do this but the whole teach a man to fish vs. give him a fish thing.. yeah she's on IEP, schools got my back.. need to make time,

Short of it.... thanks for the prayers but keep them coming.. easy to step out and do a bed and washing machine.. ensuring a little girl does not fall through cracks of our education system.. WOW.

This started as just getting things OK for now and has exploded into a part time job. It's on my heart.

Changing a family's path... Priceless. If extra help is needed, get some. But what you've done and continue to do is beyond commendable.:handshake:
    Thanks for the update, CBVT:yes:

Not so many positive... trying to find or facilitate some adult education classes for mom.. basic parenting class, household budgeting class, (credit union offer) and maybe a cooking class for fun. As the father did most of the cooking ... she has now has pots and pans and food but if she doesn't have all ingredients without way to store she just makes box mac and cheese..

but the club got the kids presents and trimmed the tree etc., etc., keeping little girl from falling behind and trying to start fresh with holiday break.

keep me in prayers cause wife and I feeling like swimming upstream. . wife went :hair: I said what we haven't Christmas shipped for us yet OK that's today:faint:

I just re-read all of your posts here this morning CBV... at some point, I hope you and your wife can really settle into the "place" in your minds where you're both at peace with all of the things, you want to do, but can't... you should have done but couldn't... and might have done, if you'd only known........ and just remember how much this Mom and her kids have been helped by your efforts. She is light years ahead of where she was. You have spear headed an on going effort to help her get to a point where it's possible now for her to help herself. You've done a lot of good there. You and your wife have big hearts and every single person who has read your story here can feel the love you two have put into all of this. Merry Christmas to you and your wife... :)
