You guys will appreciate this... wife? not so much!

My yard is/was 100% full, absolutely no more room for any more wood till I burn a few cords. Last weekend I'm driving down a local road 2 miles from my house and see a construction company clearing a lot. Well, I've been looking for a nice 20" or so piece of hardwood 6' long or so I can use for test cuts since I'm sending my saw out to get worked on. Ok, stop and grap 1 piece of uncut wood, right?

I say: "Scuse me, mind if I take 1 of those rounds? " The guy says, where do ya live? I say up the road and he says give me address, I'll come drop it off to ya. I guess he didn't want to wast time trying to load a big round into my little short bed truck, and he had a big 16 wheel dump truck (the kind they use for blacktop). Ok, give him my address....

Come home 2 hours later to nothing in the driveway... hmmm, wonder what happen.... oh well. I go in house, and look out window, and see a giant pile of wood in my NEIGHBORS driveway!!!

    KRYKEEEE on several levels!!!
    1. WRONG HOUSE! Neighbor not "excited" to find a load of uncut 25" rounds in his driveway! (he has no stove, and can't work a screwdriver)
    2. A BUNCH of wood, cord or 2. I wanted ONE round!

Off to work I went, 5 hours later, all bucked up, moved off his property....

Maple, Red Oak, Cedar, Cherry, Black Locust... Ended up a GREAT load, but... ;)

Very nice. I am sure you can find somebody to share it with if you can't take it all. That is funny about the neighbor :)

Sweet! Now you can make your test cuts, firewood sized... :) That's a nice mix too. It's a good thing your neighbor isn't a member here, or it might have turned into a race! :saw:

Awesome! Wish I lived closer and they could drop it in my yard lol! You need to find a cutting buddy to work with who needs wood and you could form a nice cutting partnership.

Got to like the free wood deliveries. Neighbor almost got one of my loads once. Fortunately I was home cleaning up the previous load (different crew) and the guys figured it out before unloading.

That's a great story! :) I would feel the same way when I saw that huge pile of logs dumped on the neighbors driveway! :bug:

You did well getting it taken care of quickly... Sometimes neighbors don't always appreciate firewood hoarding...

Nice score though.. I see a bunch of premium BTUs there... You know you need it for the 3 year plus plan anyway... ;)

That is just funny. Good for you. Glad no harm done to the neighbor. You'll just have to suffer with all that wood!!!

Some nice wood you have there. Even though cedar is a soft wood I'd still take it, makes a great fire starter from what I know.

Why don't I live on Long Island anymore:hair:
I'd have helped ya knock it down, then paid a visit to the crew that provided you with the misplaced load!
That really is a nice mix, Machria
Can you mow down any salt marsh and "extend" your storage capacity?

    Yeah, kinda figured.
Could build a "wildlife observation walkway," and fill the side lanes with wood, deeming it "additional natural habitation" zones!
I know, I know.... Not realistic, but a hoarder can dream, right?!

Right! I get lots of snakes and chipmunks and other critters that like to hang out in my stacks... :D Don't want any woodchucks though! :hair: On a related note, are you sure it wasnt a beaver that actually felled those logs?
