I had that 10 ton splitter for a couple years and it was very nice! It split all the big buggers in half so my old electric splitter could finish them off in a timely manner. The electric chainsaw is a different story About 20 minutes then POOOOOOF!
We finally got a harbor freight store in Mass a couple years ago. It's a good place to get the not so expensive 'throw away' (so to speak) tools that may wear down quicker than some name brand tools. When I'm in the area I will stop in and walk the aisles, always walking out with something
I have to admit there hand tools are made well. My sockets, wrenches and a few others have held up great.
I bought the 90a flux core and it was trash, the feed mechanism snapped and they have 0 replacement parts available. They were ready to replace the machine for me but I chose to return it altogether.
Ok it's very quiet and barely vibrates now that it dawned on me I need the little rubber feet on the bottom.......
It's a piece of junk. The only good one I have used was the most expensive 220v version they have and that didn't have a big enough cooling fan. Save the hassle get a name brand welder.
I have found that most of the electrical motor type stuff to be less than adequate along with the control switches on same. hand tools haven't been too bad, impact sockets and such and my HF splitter which is now about 12 years old is still running on the same pump, Brigs motor and orginal cylinder. valve I beam and plumbing all redone a few years ago. I have one of their 12" compound miter saws very noisy motor as compared to other power tools of that nature, but then it wasn't $500 bucks either and so far gets the job done.
I have aliasing compound mitre from HF it has served me well through many projects year after year. The only issue to arise is the brushes are bad now and there an odd size! The good news I can pick them up from a motor shop for $3 a set. Most of my HF motor items have been good except the grinder it sounded like the bearings where bone dry from day one but for $11...... My sister has a table saw from HF and it's actually very nice and hasn't skipped a beat since she got it. I could fill pages with all the stuff I have purchased from HF but the fact is there cheap which is why I go there. Good for home use but not much more. That said only 3 items have gone back and those without question where replaced right away. Heck my HVLP guns are better than the $150 gun I was using.
Take a little closer look at the original "ad" and the ad I highlighted. Its a spoof. A pretty well done one.

My FIL received a 2 HP Dust Collector from HF for x-mas this year. They neglected to include the proper hardware for the thing and he was frustrated that he had to shell out for $20+ in additional hardware to assemble the thing. I told him that I view items from HF as more of a "Kit" purchase than a final working product.
