If any of you folks know a lineman or someone working for a tree cutting service that sacrificed their Christmas with their families to come to Maine and help restore our power, please tell them we appreciate their sacrifice more than they can ever know.
Same here! We got guys from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Missouri and Canada here right now in Michigan all working there butts off to get the power back online. Some counties are losing power faster than it can be repaired still from all the ice we have....
I have a buddy that's a lineman (works for our local Co-Op) but I dint think he left state this time. I know he has before and will again. He loves his job, but his wife hates when he is gone. They have a very demanding job and he is "On-Call" a lot. Many times I offer him a beer, he declines because he is On-Call. Good people for sure and I am glad you guys up North have power restored.
Unfortunately it isn't restored yet there working there butts off and can't keep up. Maybe the warmer weather this weekend will help them out with the restoration. God bless those guys!
A buddy of mine worked in upstate NY somewhere.. He used to work as my apprentice and is doing well as a lineman...
My buddy is a lineman and is working the holidays away in Pottsdam, N.Y. His daughters are home from college and he hopes to be home in time to see them before they leave just after New Years. Tough, tough job. Long hours under the worst conditions. Snow, ice, wind, high voltage, heavy equipment. All so we can be comfy. So if you see em' out there run em out a pot of coffee or at least wish them to be safe and well. Schoondog
I have buddy that works for Edison to. He's always gone, but makes bank. His wife loves the money. I had a chance to get in the Edison program, but I moved out here instead.
The timing sure did not help. I have a friend that assesses damage, he was up there for a day and a half He got home just in time for a 5pm x-mas dinner.
They're saying now that a few unfortunate people will be out until after New Years. Supposed to get another 8-10" Sunday into Monday followed immediately buy night time temps below 0 for the rest of the week.
