I know petsmart has the Advantix. They also have Advantage from the same maker, but that product doesn't have the tic protections. Walmart sells a knock off of Fronline (PetArmour PetArmor - Walmart.com) that cost much less. I haven't used it. Frontline was always the product of choice around here until the fleas became resistive to it. It worked well for Ticks. My vet recommended the change over. The med comes in a three month supply and you would need two types because of the size differences in your pets. Good thing is what you don't use this year can be saved for next. It doesn't get outdated. Good luck!

You know, many years back, I don't recall anything about ticks. Fleas yes, but not ticks. Now they have taken over. I got Lyme s disease from a bite. Horrible stuff. Treatment was no fun either, I got treated too late, but for anyone else, if you get bitten and there is any doubt in your mind about what type of tick bit you, get treatment ASAP. The Lyme's disease is painful and the effects can be debilitating and last for years.

Larry, "you are not kidding"!!!! I walked into the hospital with a fever of 103.4 and was aching sooooooo dam bad I didn't know what was going on. "At the time", I didn't know I was bit. I had a sore spot on the back side of my arm near my shoulder and when the nurse saw it, She said, you have lymes disease! The Dr. and the blood tests confirmed it. After the two week treatment and feeling like complete S#!T, I felt better. "but" I feel it from time to time. "It does" come back to haunt you!

Dave, so sorry you got it. I tell people my story, but feel it is like whistling in the wind. Until they get it, they "just don't get it". That is like learning while dancing in the fry pan.

When Maple was getting her immunizations, Lyme was an option with a booster 2 weeks later. We had her get it, and hope it does its job.

Here we are taking a walk out back. She's sporting her new bell to get used to it for pheasant opener next week. Moments after walking, about a dozen turkey were walking across the trail. She actually pointed (unfortunately no pics of this). She stopped walking, arched her body forward, with her left paw tilted up in the air. This was the second time I saw her do it. She's no German shorthair, but cool none the less.

A few pics during our woods walk:

My husbands phone camera had a similar look. I took a q-tip w rubbing alcohol, and a couple scrapes from my fingernail to the lense in the back. Not perfect but alot better :)
