Going to a state and municipal surplus auction tomorrow. Looking to try to get a 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac that has a bit under 100k miles. Not much of a bed, but would be better for hauling pellets than my car. And, it can pull a trailer that can hold a couple tons (or my sled so I could actually use it). Went and looked it over today and seems to be in decent shape.

My car is only rated to pull 1k pounds - including the trailer. Pretty much the same as it is rated to haul. Did haul 25 bags of pellets in it one time - it squatted almost all the way to the tires. Good thing I only had to drive a couple of miles!

Probably will be outbid for the truck as I have a small budget, but figure just the new experience (never been to an auction) will be fun anyway.

Keeping a good thought for you bogieb, hope you get the Sport Trac - NICE trucks, co-workers here own them, nice ride and handling, excellent vehicle to haul and tow stuff with.

I bought a small unit, enough to run a few things like the stove and some lights, but not the whole house. That was before things changed around here. Now wish I had the whole house unit. My grandkids live here now. Plus, one of my daughters now has a master electrician for her SO. I've never run the one I have, might have to think about the whole situation again.

We run a 5,500 watt rated / 8,200 watt surge Craftsman gen. here - it's enough to run (almost) everything, within reason: well pump, oil furnace, pellet stove, refrigerator, small chest freezer, microwave, lighting.. If we want hot water, we charge up the water pressure, turn off the well pump and oil furnace, then kick on the hot water heater. If we want clean clothes, off go the oil furnace, well pump, and hot water heater... Etc., etc. Need to play the 'breaker switch' game, but it beats freezing our collective ashes off, and candles.

Only item we don't run is the electric stove - too many reports w/ neighbors having issues with their gen setups / burning out their stoves on gen power, plus when we're on gen power, the road situation is usually pretty bad around here: so it's a real challenge for the Fire & Rescue folks to respond to calls, gotta be extra careful & safe..

I have tried several times to order spare parts for my stove with no success. All the recommended online dealers on my mfgr website were out of stock on most of them every time:picard:. I contacted Don here and he fixed me up with parts and is carrying them, thanks!

Was a gray painted cement floor with some tiles from the otherside laundry room which got shrunked to fit the pellet furnace in the new expanded furnace room. I've should of tiled the furnace room but couldn't find matching tiles. Patience ran out and went ahead to install the furnace. Maybe, just maybe down the road I will tile it.

Already know it has a blend door actuator issue (no heat and clicking behind the dash). I am probably the only person to have tried the A/C-heat when I went to look at it yesterday. Also has a small exhaust leak and a few fraying water hoses from the radiator, so have to take those into consideration while bidding. But, there were no leaks and the oil looked good. We'll see. A whole bunch of people were looking at that particular vehicle, so I'm not really expecting to get it. But thanks for keeping your fingers crossed for me!

Watching my 4 year old daughter belt out "it's the final countdown" (from the commercial) into a sunscreen tube while my 10 month old bashes the hell out if a toy piano. :dex:

My lawnmower gets into its second season now-leaf cleanup. I did round 1 last Monday and today it will get a real workout as the leaves are really starting to fall.

It's supposed to warm up here mid next-week - going to dedicate a day to going over the house, inspecting downstairs (electrical, pipes, furnace, etc.) - Gen test is on the list.
Good luck with your test Russell!

Lol, I will let them choose when they are ready.

I did work with a guy who was a bagpipe player. He would do a lot of weddings and funerals. Great guy.

My youngest daughter is a Bagpipe player, she is also an instrumental music teacher certified for K-12, but teaches K-6 including general music and beginning band.
