So I tried to fire up my quad last night and I got the bad TC fire pot warning. When I removed the TC wire from the motherboard, I found that the 2 wires were loose in the connector and pulled right out. I tested the TC and got 22 mv. I then pushed the ends of the wire back into the connector and tested again by touching the connector ends and I got 22 mv. When I connect it back to the motherboard and try to start it I immediately get the bad TC warning. So can I assume that because the wires pulled out of the connector that it is not connecting right to the board or could I have other issues? I figure I need to purchase a new TC, But I am not certain because it does read millivolts properly. The stove is 7 years old and the TC was never replaced.

No I can't get it to do anything, When I try to start it up, the bad TC fire pot warning comes up and nothing happens. I can't even push the retry button and get it to reset.

    BAD TC FIREPOT

While this message may indicate that the firepot thermocouple may need
to be replaced, more often it displays if its wire connection to
the control board has become loose. If the stove was recently
cleaned or if any of the wires may have been recently disrupted,
first check to make sure all connections are secure.

I got it working, I Had to push the female pin connectors tighter together to make a better connection. Thanks for the help. I have to give credit to Kap, he was talking to me on the other forum.

I had a couple questions about the door glass on my new Quad and was very helpful. Even had to check on something and followed up with it.

I believe he has been here, his name shows up on the members list when I did a search for Kappel15, He wasn't here for awhile but apparently knows about the site. I just found out about this site myself by dumb luck. I have been on hearth for a long time. Good to see you all here again.

Glad you got the stove going and welcome to FHC!

kappel15 hope you come see us

With the addition of www.pelletpigs.com we should have more traffic this year. That link goes directly to our main forum page. Should help us with searches as well.

What is this in woman speak? Makes ignitors turn on and off?

    1. A thermocouple is a device consisting of two dissimilar conductors or semiconductors that contact each other at one or more points. A thermocouple produces a voltage when the temperature of one of the contact points differs from the temperature of another, in a process known as the thermoelectric effect.
