There was a hermit that lived in the woods near here. He lived there off grid for 27 years. His existence was supported by his habits of breaking into cabins. Some of the lodges were repeatedly broken into.
Maine's 27-year hermit breaks silence but says prison was worse

Sounds like kids to me, but I hate a thief!!!! If I caught them, I would not kill'um, but I would sure scare the HE!! out of them. Probably won't be back though, but good luck Dave.

North pond hermit. He's from your area. Feel bad for the guy but then again I don't. Saw on the news a while ago he's been released and cleaned up a lot. Hopefully he can make it in society.

I was going to suggest that along with my bear traps, but did not want to offend any Vietnam Vets.

    Its stealing firewood now...
What will it escalate to next year?
Remember " Weakness is provocation "
Lots of good ideas ,signs, police help, cameras.
Might start with cans or noisemakers on a string.

A facial tick and licking a pistol will turn any man around. Just walk around your yard doing that for a while. Word travels fast.

Or post a picture of a pistol...a shovel...and an index finger over lips...drawn in blood...right next to your stack.

About 38 miles as the crow flies. Seems he was in the paper about every day when he first got caught. He took advantage of other for years. OK to be a hermit, but not ok to steal.

But why the Flintlock ? Most than know me or are aware of me know better than to cross me up - I use legal means first- getting personal is the second option- and I am still here if you get the drift.

Ive had considerable experience in this venue the last 15 years. Actually had an incident Saturday nite.
Signs are like padlocks. They will keep the really honest people out by making them second guess their attempt to "borrow" without asking.
Kids under 30 will laugh steal or target practice with aforementioned sign.
Guns only work if you are really ready to pull the trigger. I've had 2 occasions on my property where my trigger finger was in pre spasm stage.
Social media has made everyone under the age of 30 law school graduates by way of all their friends justifying every one of their actions.
Security and game cams are awesome but you have to think outside the box. You have to get them on cam before they get to where the actual crime will take place. Their gonna be scanning the area for onlookers or cameras before they commit.
If you put the cam within 30' of the wood pile its likely gonna be stolen.

The propane tank of very good sign of something more! The tank to me signifies drug manufacturing. I would notify the police. They would be more likley to help out if drugs were involved that "just" the theft of firewood. And I don't mean just in a negative way to you or to anyone else. meth uses propane cylinders and can fill with other ingredients that's not propane. They also use propane on marijuana now days and it somehow pushes the THC out of the plants and makes it so when they smoke it it becomes like 90% THC and the kids are absolutely crazy on the stuff. Definitely not mellow! Just my two cents of what I have come accross.
