So it finally came time to replace the spur drive setup on the old 590 Timberwolf today. Looks gooood ! Put on the pro rim setup for a 600p. This is a good upgrade...but a costly one. But this will outlast the spur setup for sure ! IMG_20151009_094507743.jpg IMG_20151009_094513896.jpg
Now for those that also noticed that the half wrap handle is missing...you get a gold star !! But what I have....... Well...I have a broken handle :( During regular normal use ...this handle should last the life of the saw. But since it's been getting used to cut all these cottonwood and quaking aspen out of the family farm's woods....its been getting used pretty hard ...and wedged...and tugged on. I'm surprised that the handle lasted this long actually lol !! Was gonna upgrade to the 600p handle. But......cant find one used....and new....just a shade under $100 :( So the $40 590 handle will work ! Just have to be more careful...especially since this is my only saw :( I absolutely love this saw. So does everyone who runs it :) IMG_20151009_095511108.jpg IMG_20151009_095519908.jpg

That looks great. I've been wanting to do that to mine and run an 8 pin rim with the 20 Laser bar. Do you still have the part #'s for the swap? No big deal if not, I can search them out.

Nice upgrade Fuzz and a rim can be replaced much cheaper in the future.

If I recall, it is plastic Gary. The 600 and 620 use steel.

Just remember ...all these parts are for the 600p ! Look around ..there's different diagrams on there. I order stuff from there all the time. Never a prob !
    Clutch drum #A556001610
    Needle bearing 10001212331

    I also got .....
    Rim sprocket #68210S
    Washer# V307000520
    Snap ring#V583000130
I didn't really need the washer and snap ring...but I feel better replacing the whole thing ! Hope this helps...good luck !!

Ok trying to keep all this echo stuff right in this series. So 590 = plastic clutch cover. 620 = mag metal clutch cover. So what does the 600 use plastic or mag metal clutch cover?

Mag I believe. The 600 is what starts the pro series in that line. Even though the 590 is cylinder on case construction and a pro series build. It used cheaper parts to keep cost down (plastic handle and clutch cover)

So what did the clutch upgrade run you?

I'm surprised Echo uses a plastic wrap handle on a 60cc saw. I would think it would be heavier and weaker than aluminum, and not that much cheaper.

    Kevin,

I had to go out and look at my saws. The only ones I could find with plastic handles are my MS390, and my CS341T.
