Old saw "museum" @ the Freyburg fair.

A nice collection of old saws in the "AG" museum at the freyburg fair in Maine. This was today but the fair runs all week. They also have a nice display of operating antique engines and many of the tools that they operate. 2 of my favorites are the log splitter and a shingle mill, somehow didn't get pic of the shingle mill.

 

That round bladed bowsaw looking one in the first pic is wild looking. Lots of cool old stuff

I think it might be for brush or slash/tops. Remember the "bow saws" that had a similar open bar set up to prevent pinching?

Some nice lookin' old Macs there. Looks like this one could be either a 740,790,795 or 797/Super 797. I cant really tell without seeing that model number & part number stamped on the cylinder block underneath it.

 

I kinda took that one with you in mind bro.

 

I just "clicked" your ebay link, are you the seller? If so, how have you resisted taking that thing out "for a drive"? I quess it might hurt the value, but I would think that sitting "dry" for all those years would not hurt it or prevent it from running with maybe the exception of gaskets & rubber items. Cool saw!

LOL I wish it was mine......Just heard of them a few years ago,that's the first one I've seen for sale anywhere.

 

Here is one I came across a couple of weeks ago.



It was just another dead end in the evolution of the chain saw.
