Again, very nice, thanks for the info. Asked because we need to redo flooring here, was looking at Pergo "Honey Maple" flooring, very similar color, that's the one the Boss chose. But if oak turns out looking that nice and cost less, then.. So, that's varnish then? Going to give the flooring 3 coats?

3/4" real oak hardwood in Colo cost 3x of pergo in 2011.

    That sounds very painful.

She didn't apply a physical skillet to the noggin, the phone call when like this ..."Trade that thing in now and get a truck". ummm ok. Translation : Whoooo Hoooo!

You name it and I have done it on a car. The tranny I rebuild on by Grand National is still going strong after 10,000 miles of burning rubber. These new cars are very difficult to work on and right now my bubble gum and baling twine are tucked somewhere between the furniture and other assorted home goods. I do know where the duct tape is so I might have called the dealer ship prematurely.

Going for three coats of urethane. Add some area rugs and keep the dogs nails clipped and it should stay nice for a long time.

I think you will find that to be typical. Keep in mind you cannot refinish a pergo floor.

The stock always changes but take a peek at pergooutlet. I found 600sq ft at $1 , with padding and vapor barrier already attached.

Got it, Thanks. I'd prefer real wood, but the Good Lord above did not bless me with the gift of working with wood - thinking I can handle Pergo 'snap-n-click together' though. Maybe.

Just wait til she borrows it a few times, you will then need another truck for her too. Unless you get double cab long bed, those were hard for me in parking lots.

The only real difference in installation is that you nail the hardwood to the sub-floor. You still have to get your first run lined up and cut pieces. If you haven't check out some videos on you tube. It might be easier than you think.

Also, the "engineered hardwood" is the same as pergo, with a micro veneer of hardwood on the top, it "might" be able to be sanded and refinished once.

I duno. The stuff I have seen at the big box looks like the veneer is about 1/16 ". One pass with drum sander and your looking at total FUBAR.
