But had to build first official fire a while ago. It is 45 degrees, wind, rain, damp, and cool. The girlfriend said she was chilly and wanted a fire so I obliged, built one to knock chill off. I must say, it feels very nice!
I am trying to avoid that. It's the same here. While normally I would just turn on the furnace in days like today the gas company pizzed me off last year and I refuse to buy any more his year I do have a pellet stove and it's going now it does a good job of taking the chill out. But it's not as toasty as the wood furnace
It's the same in Western PA -- raining, 44F and not expected to get a whole lot warmer today. If not now, then when?
Sounds like a bunch of stoves will be burning off dust this weekend. 60 and rain here - I was cleaning the stove yesterday and the GF was making sure I wasn't getting ready to load it
Noticing a lot of us starting the usual routine. Staying cool all day, slight rain, and a bit of wind, makes a gooder excuse to fire one up..........in the stove. Decided to have one again this morning, and it wasn't even as cool as yesterday. I must be in the groove already.
I had to make the wife happy and started mine up today. I brushed the flue today since last year wasn't too bad. The kids are warm the wife is happy now I'm happy
53* and 20 mph winds here today. We fired up the stove this morning and it sure feels good! A few pieces of soft maple made all the difference in the world.
Yeah same here, built a fire last night and getting ready to build another one as the house is down to 62. Rainy damp and chilly here. Plus kids want to roast marshmallows this evening and we sure as heck won't do it outside.
Fired up last night , I think I'm going to have another here pretty soon , it's 50 raining a little, but wind is blowing 20-25 mph
its about 55 degrees with some rain and wind. One of those days that chills ya to the bone. I came in and turned the furnace on for a bit. Saving my wood I guess
Yep. Rainy, windy and 45F last night so I warmed up the cast iron. Only going up to 52F today so I've had a small fire going all day. Doesn't take much to beat back the chill at this time of year; a few pieces of ash and walnut.
Nothing like a nice and warm home. Some of my buddies that don't burn had to put their boiler on, I told em your paying the oil man already, hell no not me
Nice looking woodburners folks. The stove was still warm this morning, raked coals to front and added a couple small pieces just to take the chill off. Getting closer to burning 24-7.
