Thought you guys would appreciate this. These are sitting in front of Price Chopper. By the ton they're $4.78/bag. By the bag they're $6.50/bag. That's an impressive mark-up! BTW these have been sitting there for well over a month now. Never seen an open pallet yet.

Meanwhile, a couple miles down the road at Walmart - they have Penningtons for $229/ton ($4.58/bag) and by the bag they are $4.99/bag. Does that mark-up seem a bit more reasonable?

Interesting. Anyone familiar with warm front? I've only heard ambivalent reviews on the Pennington's

Well I would bet that Price Chopper pays more for the pellets than Wally World so that mark-up may not be as large as you think. Remember that most Wal-Mart store deliveries are made with their own trucks or a dedicated fleet… freight can add $$$ to the wholesale cost.

That is pretty cheap. Pellets around here are $8-9 a bag.

I didn't know Price Chopper sold Pellets! I wonder if you get the gasoline discount with the purchase? For those who don't know PC is a local grocery store chain.

They always seem to have Warm Fronts in my area. And yes, you should get the discount....it applies to anything you buy there, AFAIK.

We have $8.00 pellets he too. Some of them are getting them in the midst of the season. Should see that pretty soon with the pellet crunch happening now.

True… but do they pick up from the pellet mill? Wal-Mart will relay a trailer from a supplier 1000 miles away. I believe Price Chopper trucks just deliver from their own warehouses… most, if not all, of their product is delivered to the warehouse by outside carriers.

Some loads DO come direct from the mills if the store can take a full or partial load… the driver may have two or three stops with a 22 pallet load.

These will still be sitting there in April, with a marked down sale price sticker slapped on them.

As long as we don't see a crunch, But then again, Many BB's have large stack's this year!!

Last year PC had Warm Fronts. They were loads of them. Then the little hick up we had in February made em all basically vanish.

    I still wouldn't buy them

Pellets became scarce in areas not near Texas .
