First fire of the season. Came home to 61f inside and chilly outside weather. So a fire we shall have!
1st fire here too. Down to 31 this a.m. had a strong north wind all day and back down to 31 tonight. Cranked er up this afternoon about 2, and of course had to run out first thing and watch the first smoke rolling out of the chimney..............LOL. Comfortable 74 in here this evening............Ah, so good.
I dont know yet but im pretty sure the pellet stove is moving to the shop. I really like the convenient use of a pellet stove but its far far far more work to maintain than my wood stove. It is suited much more to the shop than the house. Wr found a very good deal on a new high efficiency furnace to replace the brick in the basement too so we should be easily be able to do a new furnace as backup again.
Whatever works best for you! And, if I did not live in such a cold area, I would be back to a woodstove as well. chit happens, make the best you can of it
Looking good Pete! Same here bro, had to warm things up a bit! I too walked around the house to look at the startup smoke, in the rain! Only whacky hoarders I guess!
No fire here today but had a fire yesterday. I'm actually surprised we don't have the stove going because while I was out hunting it was really cold. Funny that the temperature was not that bad, even this morning it started around 50 degrees but that wind was really raw and strong. Tonight I even had a tree fall behind me in one of the wind gusts. Makes one think....
Looks like ya got er cookin good Pete It Was a beautiful day, but sittin on my butt tonight, I need , FIRE !!
go primal bro light it up!!!! Its sooooo fricken cold out already wonder if that means another hard winter. I need to shift firewood to the house real bad soon.
Game on Pete! In other news.....First fire - check. Observed chimney smoke - check. Wife no longer complaining about cold - check. Hauling wood in every night - check. Awww how sweet it is.
Mid 40's at night and low 50's during the day here the last couple days. Windy and drizzling too. So we had our first fire of the season last night and boy did it feel good. And I have to admit... I went outside to check out my freshly cleaned flue too!
