I just pulled a chocolate vinegar cake out of the oven and pulled some strawberries out of the freezer to put on top for Friday 2pm break. Oh we have been burning for about a week, not 24 hr but here and there.

Never heard of a choc vinegar cake, but it sounds good. Might need a recipe for that! Years ago, reluctantly tried a sour cream cake......... its now my favorite!

Nice to get it going to chase the chill away. How is the door glass looking? I have darkening on the sides again. I am wondering if this is just the air wash not reaching over there. I my pull the door this evening and check the glass gasket. I can't see this as being the issue though. I should be able to run a good hot fire tomorrow and see if it clears up.

I didn't have any issues, but I put very small splits in. Having those corners darken is pretty typical with this stove due to the large glass. My concerns this year will be very high temps again. I did go through the stove and cleaned the chimney 2 weeks ago. Changes this year will be an inline adjustable block off plate on the OAK.

fishingpol some of that may be the milder outside temps and not as strong of a draw early in the year. We burned our first fire last evening too, had a small amount of soot on the corners of mine too.....

Fires look great fellas!! I'm excited for the upcoming season!!

Could be it. Well Seasoned is right, this seems common enough on this model. The hearth is looking great Scott. It's is a great time of year to enjoy the change of season. The old iron hearth tools look great.

It is supposed to be 50 degrees all weekend up here. Nor' east wind off the ocean will make it feel cooler. I'm looking forward to it too. I have to think of something to cook now.

Darkening on the sides is common on my stove to , shoulder season, slow draft , small fires , once it gets cold and I load the stove up ,burning good n hot ,problem gone , starts up again in the spring same thing ,slow draft , small fires

My vote for cooking would be roasted veggie lasagna with a side of breadsticks. Finish off the evening with a couple double stuffed oreos.
