Another home made pickaroon

Well you guys keep showing all these inventive ways of making a pickaroon so I thought I would give it a go.
So here is my version. I used some small pieces of 2" angle iron I had laying around and bent it over in the vise to conform to the axle handle. For the spike I used a long lag bolt that I had from a power pole cross arm.
I did buy the axle handle for 11 bucks.

Thanks. I sharpened it a little more since it would not stick hard wood as well. I also painted the head green.
I really did not know if it would be that useful but I am finding it to work out pretty well and starting to carry it in my truck now with my other firewood tools.

Unloaded a bunch of wood out of the truck today. I believe this is the first time I did not jump up in the bed to unload.
I am going to refine the point just alittle more to make it stick in the wood easier, but I am liking it so far.

 

Swing harder

 

I think I want to make this thing as easy as possible to use. I will be inclined to use it more that way.
But you are right that is what I am doing now.

 

I had to swing mine pretty hard the other day to get it to stick into barkless sugar maple round, so I could drag it
