Been watching the forecast, Dave. Looks chilly tomorrow and Tues. Friday does, too, when we'll be there. Few days after that look nice, though. Kiddos have some brand new, second hand x-country skis they're itching to try out.
I saw that Toronto Canada has 250,000 without power. https://twitter.com/MartinBPhoto/status/414827274995630080/photo/1 Just a pic from Toronto.
Pete and Dennis I was wondering about you guys. Wood stove is nice but so is electricity Power flickered a couple of times but it is still on, Branches down all over but, Nothing major I have seen yet. Daughter has no power in Swartz Creek 260,000 without power in Michigan First pic upper right you can see my power line and cable
Wow. That sounds like the day we came home from DC. We did not get anywhere near that temperature yesterday as it stayed around 33 or 34 all day. We watched the radar and most of the day the rain was about 30 miles south of us. We got hit during the night here.
Power may be out a while in Michigan http://www.detroitnews.com/article/...-nearly-300-000-still-lack-power-across-state
yep Consumers Energy is saying that power will be back on at my daughter's house , in Shiawassee County possibly December 28, there is a state of emergency in that county now
That is a long time to lose power in the winter.. Lost it for 4 days during blizzard last year.. Real PIA
Owosso is completely down the entire town! Taco Bell is the only place for 10 miles with power and from what I understand there almost put of food. Fortunately I can't stand Taco Bell and we have power as well as being 15 miles away from them! It's gonna be a cold night for some folks I hope there all ok. There are trees down everywhere blocking roads all over the place thank goodness we have a wood stove because ours is currently flickering on and off.
Glad you're OK there Pete! Gotta love the secure feeling a woodstove provides in these situations.. Great to have a little control when most things are out of your control..
There was a continuous flow of trucks, utility and tree, heading west on I90 last night. On the straight stretches, there was a continuous stream of yellow flashing lights as far as you could see. It is pretty amazing the resources they can deploy so quickly to deal with storms like this.
An old apprentice I had now works on power lines and is somewhere in NY. They make big money on these storms so he loves it..
very rare to have the power off except for ice storms. usually a matter of hours, but once went to a week. it was off many places yesterday. i guess it must have been our turn.. dark here now. lit a lamp and it stinks.
Some nice LED camp lights now. No odor & last hours & hours. Thinking I'll get this one. Multiple uses . 75 hours. 4 portable lamps. http://www.coleman.com/product/quad-led-lantern/2000001150#.UriyBByHd5c
