I needed a bigger wood rack by the stove for this year so I decided to put one together. I bought a couple of stair treads, black iron pipe and some casters to work with. I decided on using stair treads because I wanted something thicker than 3/4" lumber and the stair treads are a full 1" thick. I trimmed the treads to 9" wide and glued them together and trimmed them to length for a finished size of 18"X38". After the wooden piece was stained and finished, I put the pipe pieces together and installed the casters and then installed the pipe. I wanted it on casters to be able to move it for cleaning. It should work out just right for me.
Great job Brad, the one my wife bought me from wherever, is nice but a bit weak, a buddy has tons of black iron pipe left overs.. he installs fire sprinklers the 1 inch makes great closet rods
Looks great Brad! I like the choice of black iron pipe. Real nice work too - did you joint the edge of the boards, or is that right off the saw?
Oh Curry, you're talking like me when I see some of my buddy's stuff! Nice work Brad M, I too really like it!
