Am I only one here that has every intention of making sure my kids (daughter, nephews etc.) learn to drive correctly! Yes they have to be able to drive standard! Know how to handle snow and Ice with all seasons even though they will have snow tires, (take them out on lake start stop corner on Ice) Just so if they borrow a car or a rental they can drive!

Hey, I laugh at the idiots on road too. But my daughter (not my wife mind you) will be able to change a tire and fill it with air and check oil on her car! Handle snow storms and parallel park. Or I won't sign for her to get a license!

    Sorry rant over...

I feel the same way. Since calcium chlor was introduced, too many young drivers get a false sense of security on bad roads.

I now drive an automatic, it "coasts" or glides after I let off the gas, personally I liked the way my standard trannys slowed down faster after letting off the gas pedal..... Much less braking in a standard.

(off topic, my child will also learn nice printing and cursive as well as change a tire.....)

This will make sound old, but I also do not appreciate the new anti-lock brakes. I think Backwoods Savage mentioned that too.

Right where I want to be.
My SisIL likes her ABS, but she sometimes has a tough time driving and thinking at the same time, so...................
